Can you guys help. I am feeding my 20 month old boxer Maggie on Vitalin's "Bitch Diet." I have fed this to my other boxers for years and they have done very well on it.
But Maggie is a very tall lady indeed, in fit hard condition and weighs 30kg which is really exceeds the weight for the standard. She has really good "bone." However, she is pretty hyper compered to my other 2 adults and wondered if it was the food I am feeding her and also I feed her twice as much as I was feeding the others when they were on the bitch diet. She still looks on the lean side (not worms) but otherwise in fab condition.
Really, I would like to see her more covered weight wise and perhaps a little calmer?
Is there a complete food anyone can recommend that compares price wise to what I am buying at the moment (around £45.00 per 25kg bag) that can put more weight on her?

I've been feeding my girl Arden Grange Premium for about a month now and she's really starting to look good. She's always been on the thin side and really needed to body up. (at the last show some strange man actually felt compelled to come tell me she was too thin). She was also 30Kg but is now up to almost 33. She does eat raw in the evenings (~400g of meat plus veg) but the premium is designed for "...Higher calorie density - ideal for working dogs and those needing to gain bodily condition." She's looking great and not at all hyper. It's about £38 from AG or you can get it from Berriewoods for £26.

Ingredients:

Fresh Chicken (min 19%), Chicken Meal* (min 19%), Whole Grain Rice, Potato, Chicken Fat*, Beet Pulp, Egg Powder, Fish Meal*, Dried Brewers Yeast, Linseed, Fish Oil*, Minerals, Vitamins, Nucleotides, Prebiotic FOS, Prebiotic MOS, Cranberry Extract, Chondroitin Sulphate, Glucosamine Sulphate, MSM, Yucca Extract. * Preserved with mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract.

Typical Analysis
Protein 26%, Oil 17%, Fibre 3%, Ash 6%, Moisture 8%, Omega6 3.76%, Omega3 0.6%, Vitamin A 18000 IU/kg, Vitamin D3 1250 IU/kg, Vitamin E 130 IU/kg, Calcium 1.12%, Phosphorous P 0.8%, Copper 20 mg/kg (as Cupric Sulphate).

Purchase a brand that is maize free, maize is tryptophan deficient and as a precursor to serotonin is needed to maintain calmness.

Hyper is a an over and misused term generally down to insufficient mental and physical exercise for the individual dog.
