Hope someone will be able to help...
I'm new to this raw diet, but I'm pretty convinced it makes a lot of sense (I'm ½ way thru my 2nd book on the subject).
Anyway, here's the question...
Would someone pls advise on a good, reliable, quality supplier of raw meat products? I live on the Isle of Lewis and have tried local butchers to no avail.
thanks in advance

Don't like landywoods, but there is Prize choice, thats good, comes solid frozen in well refridgerated vans, when defrosted is not 'off'.

I'm just starting out with the BARF diet and have just ordered the books. Is it better to actually get a rapport with the local butcher for the meat required or is it just as good to buy from the above companies and have them deliver it to you. Also have you found a major difference in cost between the 2??
At this time i have got meat from the butcher and local supermarket, i did buy the packs of frozen meat from the pet shop but he doesn't really like that.
Any thoughts?

I do a mixture Sue - I get my raw meaty bones from the butcher - his waste in effect and get two huge bags per week @ £1.50 per bag and get the frozen blocks - get the tripe/ and meat and tripe - from berriewoods.
In an emergency I get from Petshop - have found mine are not keen on just mince beef or mince chicken so poss. your boy is the same.
I found Berriewoods are cheaper than Prize Choice.

I get all mine from 2 local butchers who are wonderful.I order 14 kg of raw roughly minced meat a week -minced chicken, beef, lamb, offal, rabbit etc what ever he has spare and it costs me 50 p KG.Bones and ribs are free.My other butcher is organic and charges the same but I can only get it when he slaughters a cow.Bones are again free as are pigs trotters and pigs heads. If I have no room in my freezer butcher no 1 will keep it in hs freezer. However small family butchers are dying out as many people go to their supermarket to buy their meat.Good luck with Barf.

Well i have just been to the butchers and found out its the same one as RachelSetters goes to.. Anyway he had a bag for me,so we've taken that at £1.50 so will see how we get one, they did mention mixed mince meat, will wait to see how he finds what i have got him now and also after reading the books i have ordered.
I really can't believe how cheap this is going to be compared to the top end complete food. Its going to save me hundreds a year by doing this and should be a much healthier option for my dog.
I have spoken to my father and he is very interested now and is considering moving his dogs onto it.

Sorry Sue - went shopping myself - Clive is brill and so lovey too :) Sometimes if I don't manage to get there he is fine and keeps it for me - he makes sure he freezes it all anyway.
Good luck Sue - don't worry if your boy doesn't enjoy it straight away but have to say Maxy was so fussy before and now is a real piglet!
