hi yes i have pups 12 days old,today one of them has developed a bad case of the runs,,,she is eating ok and putting weight on daily,should i be worried as i thought this would happen when i started  weaning them and not yet,,,all the other pups are fine,we are at vets on tues anyway,but any advise would be appriciated

you can use pro kaolin on pups for the runs but with it only being 12 days I would get it to the vet.

I would get it to the vet...tuesday is a long time away and a small pup could dehydrate fast.

Is the mum ok ? If she has picked up a bug she will pass it on to the puppies and you may find that other pups will have the runs also over next day or 2 .I would ask vet for ABs for the whole litter and mum to be on safe side.

How is the pup?  I hope she is better.

thanks hillbilly she is fine now but like trekkiemo said it was passed through the litter ,,,,, on monday i called the vet explained to her the situation,bearing in mind this is my first ever litter and so far i have been so careful to do everything right,and by the book,after talking to my vet i feel.........let down and furious with her......she said because mum was wormed post mating and not again at 42 in whelp.it was down to worms......im so very angry because had she advised me on this when we saw her when penny was 30 days in whelp,none of this would of happened,given pups first dose of panacur today and so far no runs......................................
also i mentioned frontline spray or something simiilar as my dogs were wormed from 2 weeks onwards and she said they dont do it till they are 5 weeks.......but now i find it hard to trust her...................any advice

Frontline spray can be used earlier but I prefer to do them all at 5 weeks. Have you seen any fleas and is this why you want to treat them? If not I would wait if I were you. I think your vet is giving mixed messages here, if she is talking about the panacur worming regime for the bitch that is done daily from day 40 to 2 days post whelp.
