I have Tiva and Junior due for their shots- well 3yr rabbie shot and I just get their anual as well- yes I only go in every 3 years when rabbie is due....

Anyhow I believe I had Junior in last year so she could have a look at his leg cause he goes lame every now and then- now its his front leg he doesn't wanna put any weight on it- he does a bit after I message him just don't understand what he did. He is a very hyper dog, trying to keep him still is alot of work but i was thinking do you think he could have just pulled a muscle or something from being hyper? Now he's actually taking it easy but seems to limp alot with his front leg. oya he's like 8yrs old he was born feb 2000.

What age do you stop taking your dog in for shots? Or do you do them every year/ 3years no matter what? Tiva will be 10yrs old on the 9th so I was thinking this would be her last year for shots and anything else would just be health appt. since I only give shots every 3yrs- she would be 13yrs next time around... She does seem very healthy in herself except for the odd emptying of the anal glands I have to do.

Sorry to hear about your dogs leg and I hope that you can find out what is wrong and she gets better soon.

Re vaccines, usually once an animal has immunity the immunity will last for at least 7 years to life.  I don't vaccinate my dogs, they had their puppy jabs and I take them to a homeopathic vet for homeopathic nosodes twice a year.

Yes, and all quality kennels. My vet recommends that they have Parvo an Lep**** can never remember but it is a disease that attacks the liver and is caught from rats or sniffing infected dogs pee, every year but not the others, so I do as the vet suggests, they fill in the card with what they have supplied and the kennel seems happy with it.

No, I have pet plan and they are insured for everything other than if they catch a disease that a vaccination could have prevented.

I have found that some kennels will accept titre test readings and homeopathic nosodes so not necessary to vaccinate for kennels.  Also no dog requires a vaccination every year even the manufacturers state every 3 years.  Except for lepto of course and that is questionable as the vaccination given in the uk only covers 3 strains and not necessarily the strains found in the uk and only offers protection between 3-9 months.

maybe it was,  but I thought the question was that the insurance policy as a whole was in question without vaccination? 
My dogs are definitley covered for everything except Lepto, distemper & parvo on insurance.

Edited to say that friends of ours had their dog vaccinated every year without fail and he tragically died after catching Lepto last summer :(  as I said on my previous post, Lepto vaccine is questionable.

Think questionable is better than nothing, I had a friend die of it and I am very conscious of the risk.

Ive heard of a few dying lately as a result of having a lepto jab! I had just about let the vet talk me into doing mine then changed my mind again, I am very aware of the dangers of what dogs can pick up in stank water, so just have to try harder to keep them out.

The lepto shot I think only lasts about 4months anyway so its not much good

Puppy vaccinations and booster here only.  Lost to many dogs a few days after vaccinations for it just to be a coincidence!

I made his appt for June 14th and Tiva goes in July 12th... Now Junior is walking fine- but sure he will end up sore again seems to come and go :( Just had him at the vet last year he had major dental work done had like 10 teeth pulled he was pretty sore for awhile- sure he won't be looking forward to his appt lol

I think 10yrs will be my last for taking to the vet for shot, not sure if I should get her shots or not in July but will have a talk with my vet when I take Junior in and see what she says- Tiva seems happy but maybe she might just want a visit since she has not been in for 3yrs now.

I think I pay almost $100 for exam, shot the works lol so not too bad...
