My dog is seriously ill with liver problems. He's jaundice because of all the toxins in his blood. He won't eat at the moment does anyone have any ideas of things that won't upset his tum but are really appetising? I've tried cooked chicken which he ate yesterday but today he's refusing it.
I usually have B sorb in, when my friends Afghan bitch had a ruptured uterus & had to have an emergency C section & spay she refused to eat, she was kept going on B sorb & when she had recovered from the operations she regained her appetite

If your dog has liver problems you do have to be very careful what food you feed. White fish and rice or chicken with a bit of rice you could try sardines in brine not the oil I think its the illness causing the upset tum not what you feed My friends dog has been very ill with same problem
My dog also has liver problems, ie a liver shunt and she doesnt like eating either. I give her Royal Canine Hepatic food but the only way she will eat it is if I soak it and spoon feed her!! it's a bit of a nightmare.
Things she does eat (sometimes) are ham, scrambled egg and chicken and most raw meats. Obviously I dont like giving her too much protien foods but I do find it can encourage her to eat better things. I've heard their taste buds are really affected by the liver problems and that's why some foods which are nice one day are awful the next. I think foods like ham have a strong enough taste to beat the horrible taste in their mouths. She isnt meant to have too much meat due to her liver problems but she copes quite well with it.
Another thing which will tempt her is mint chocolate. Our vet thought that shouldnt do her too much harm again I think the stronger taste helps.
We have been living with this for 18 months now and we have learnt what she can tolerate and what to avoid.
Thanks for all your replies but I had to have my Benny put to sleep last tuesday. He just went right downhill and started throwing up blood and clots and I had to make the decision.
