Topic Dog Boards / Health / Phantom Pregnancy & Spayed?

Hi
Can a bitch that has been spayed have a phantom pregnancy??
Molly has had a phantom before she was spayed & she showing the signs again I think.
She is very clingy, wanting cuddles & keeps going to lay on my side of the bed this weekend during the day. During the weekdays Molly has the utility room, sun room & garden, where her bed, breakfast, water & biscuits are. She has done this since a pup, she is now nearly 3. But the past week when I call her out to these rooms she just sits on the sofa & will not come or if she does venture out she is very sheepish. She never lays in her bed anymore as the towels in her bed are untouched. Today I just left her in the house, she is no problem there, but I prefer her to have fresh air & the house smells a bit doggy today! She is washing herself more, her penny & paws!
She is very happy in herself, happy when over the fields. I don't think there is anything wrong, but just her behaviour is a bit odd.
Thanks
Anne & Molly

How long ago was she spayed, how old was she and at what stage during her cycle?

Molly was spayed at the end of October last year, she was 2yrs 2mths & was mid cycle.

If she was having a phantom at the time of spaying, from what I was told by my vet, she can carry on having them. Dont know whether this is true as I have learned not always to believe what vets say...

She could have an infection that is causing her to clean herself more. It could also be making her sluggish. I'd get her checked out by your vet.

I have a bitch that gets interesting to other dogs every 6 months or so, even though she was spayed a few years ago. No phantom pregnancy though.
