Puppyboy has a continual discharge from his eyes.  He's been to the Vet three times.  First, he did have some mild conjunctivitis, was rubbing his eyes, ointment applied for 10 days, it cleared up.  Two days later it was back, though not as heavy.  Two more visits to the Vet, she can find nothing wrong and he is not rubbing them.  On the third visit she said puppies just sometimes have an eye discharge that is minor and not a danger.  I would feel a bit better if she had also said that the second time.  She will give us a referral to a Veterinary Opthamolgist but I thought I would ask about it here first.  Anyone else with this experience?  Is it a puppy thing?  Vet did not think it was allergies either, I should add.

Is it clear water discharge?

Sometimes.  Sometimes it's yellowish.  Vet has seen this.  Even though it sometimes looks pussy she says there is not a problem.  I wondered if it was due to irritation when he is off leash and running through tall grasses.  But there is no sign of cuts from sharp grass (or cat hooks) or seeds embedded.  And no eyelash problems.  And he has it all the time.  He didn't when he was younger; seven months old now.

Allergy?

Allergies can cause eye irritation.
Might be worth trying anti histamine or changing his food to see if any improvement?
