Hi everyone, i have a foster girl who came to me today, we thinks shes pregnant but dont know for definate, shes panting and wont settle but could that be from all the stress of being in kennels then the drive to my house?? i have taken her temp its 37.6, could her temp be that if she isnt pregnant? Iv been reading some of the threads on here and they say once the temp gets to 37.6 or lower labour should start within 12-24 hours. If she hasnt had any by tomorrow i have someone coming out to scan her.
hi i am no expert and i have just had my first litter 2 weeks ago but to me 37.6 is low my girls was that 2 days before she whelped then dropped to 36.6 and we had pups about 6 hours after that drop but im sure someone much more knowledgeble will be along shortly to help but i would think at this point you should be able to feel in her stomach if there are pups (depending on breed of course)

Not sure where you read that but 37.6 is not far from 100 F labour signs are generally signalled by a PROLONGED period below 37.2c or 99f

The guy who scans for me came out last night, his scanner wasnt working so he listened to her, theres definatly heart beats in there so hes coming back out this evening to scan her, her temp dropped to 37.1 last night then went back up. just keeping a very close eye on her.

My girls temp fluctuated between 37.8 and 37.0 for a week before it dropped to 36.5 3 hours later we had our first puppy.

I dont think shes quite ready her temp is up and down, the lowest was this morning 36.8 but went back up to 37.1 when checked just now, just a waiting game. Will be getting her scanned later so will have a better idea i hope.

That is exactly what happened with my girl, she dropped to 36.9 saturday morning, I took it again 4 hours later and it was back up to 37.3, by 10pm it was 37.7, then sunday morning came down and took her temp at 7.30am, it was 36.5 she had first pup 3 hours later. Good luck with her.

Sounds like it could be soon then. To be honest iv never taken the temp with any of my girls but with her not being mine and not knowing how far gone she is i thought it would be best to do it, think i might even do it with my girls now, i just get confused with all the temps lol, but getting the hang of it now.
hi sorry bout tht lol was looking at my book wrong duh as i have the temp in f next to the temp in c dont no where i was looking

Well we had her scanned, definatly 3 pups but she decided to lay down half way through, he thinks she should have them within the week maybe 2 weeks at the very most, if nothing by friday he will come back out and rescan her to make sure everything is ok, its just a bit worrying as it looks like shes had a fair few litters before and we are not sure on her age, we think shes possibly about 6. Once shes had them she will be spayed and then a lovely forever home will be found for her.

Aaaww.. poor baby!! I think you guys who foster do a fantastic job, especially for lady's like this one. I wish you all the luck in the world with her and her new litter of babies and I hope that they all find lovely forever homes. :)
Keep us posted about the babies when they arrive.

I was secretly wishing there was no babies or maybe just one, so fingers crossed it is just 3 she has. Iv really become attached to this girl but once this is all over with she will be placed in a home where she is the only dog and she will get all the love and attention she deserves.
I will definatly keep you updated. :-)
