This morning I awoke at 8am went to get out of the bedroom but couldnt as my other half who left for work at 5am had bolted it from the other side!  (we have bolts on most doors as the puppy can now open them!)

Anyway picture the seen me in my pyjamas, three big dogs wagging and getting giddy wanting to go out for a piddle, me trying to force the door but it wouldnt open!

Knowing there was no escape, and no phone to call anyone for help I had to get out so out the window it was!  Now we do live in a bungalow BUT its a raised one so the drop is still about 17ft!
I managed to clamber into the window frame all the time the dogs getting giddier and giddier wondering what mummy was up to, I then had to turn round as didnt want to jump head first and i was really scared, i was shaking!
I turned around and grabbed the window frame, my legs now dangling down I just had to get the courage to let go now, however pup decided he would at this point grab my ponytail and start pulling it, I was shouting at him trying to push him off, let go but scraping my arm on the window latch and ripping all the nails off my right hand!
I went down with a right bang and banged my shoulder on landing!

I now ache all over, my shoulder is hurting I have a big 2"gash in my arm which has already swollen up and gone blue, no nails left on one hand and I feel really sick, Im off to work soon to start a 10hr shift till 2am

Just wait till OH gets home !!

Oh Rupertbear, you poor thing! :)
I would def be asking Hubby why on earth he locked you in the bed when he went off to work???!!! :) :) :O
Hope you feel better soon, please let us know WHY your Hubby decided to bolt the bedroom door! I wait in eagerly!!!

Oh gosh -sorry could not help but laugh. What a thing to happen! We have a cat proof door on our kitchen, as one of the dogs isn't reliable with cats, and it has become automatic to lock that. Trouble is it can be locked either from the inside or the outside as yes it is bolted. Sure enough, my husband has locked me inside the kitchen more times than I can count. Luckily there has always been somebody else at home to shout for.

Oooh poor you!  That happened to me once although it was the front door that was locked and my house keys were in the car.  I had to climb out the livingroom window - no way could I have jumped out the bedroom one!!  Glad you're OK!

Poor you! Sorry, had to laugh.:-D
Can't you call in sick?
- By Rupertbear [gb] Date 28.05.08 13:51 UTC
I keep telling my OH to ALWAYS lock the doors behind him as our latest puppy goes into every room and steals things!
He must have done it as a matter of fact when he got up at 4am! But its still no excuse I am really mad with him

Its a good job we are in a bungalow as if it were a house dont know how I wouldve got out!! We have no neighbours and the postman doesnt arrive till after lunch

So sorry............but I too laughed at the picture you must have made with that darling puppy trying to save you from falling...............
Probably, you will too at least when your nails grow back.
I wouldn't like to be in the OHs shoes when you see him though..............

Had to giggle at the mental pic, of someone hanging out the window, and this pup pulling on the pony tail, trying to save his owner from the drop.

But on a more serious note, glad you are ok.  Time to use the RICE methods of healing!  (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate)

I wouldnt want to be your OH, when he gets home.
- By DEARLADY [gb] Date 28.05.08 16:08 UTC
oh no!!!

at least you had your PJ's on!!

and windows you could climb out through....

goodness, glad you got it sorted, extra TLC from hubby required methinks ;)

Am I the only one that didn't laugh then?  I was worried that pup or other dogs may try to follow.  Your OH would get a telling off by me :)

sorry but i had to laugh too, i could of been worse someone could of called the police, wishing you a speedy recoverey,

A funny story!
BUT on a more sensible note.........If I were you I would think again about the wisdom of having bolts everywhere. The very nature of bolts is that they are on one side of a door, and loan themselves to this kind of thing happening (even dogs have been known to accidentally flip bolts and lock doors). As things were you got hurt...had there been a fire it could have been much worse. Do yourself a favour and get rid of the bolts....and keep your mobile in your bedroom for emergencies !!!!!!
Hope you feel better soon :-)

I can vouch for that, some years back i had taken GSD out and left xbreed at home ( can't remember why), got home, put key in front door,...........wouldn't open darling Freckles had managed to put the deadlock button down
Put gsd back in car..........all upstairs windows shut tight as were downstairs ones - anyway they all had secondary D/G that was shut tight.......
Only possibility was cloakroom window (on ground floor thank dog)...you know, the little flappy bit at the top, got screwdriver and steps from garage, removed the little sticky-up bit that the arm fits onto and ended up squeezing head first in thru window.......straight at loo but managed to put lid down before I went head first only to find cat sat there saying 'hello mum fancy seeing you there' AAArg
measured the gap later it was 20" x 9".

Same here! Imagine if someone saw it happening, I would have died with laughter after checking you were ok!

I know it could have been serious but it wasnt so I feel OK to chuckle at this :-D

Hope you feel better soon and let us know what happens when Hubby gets home lol !!

Hi Everyone Glad you all had a good giggle!  It was funny looking back but it certainly wasnt funny knowing I had to jump and I dont like heights!
Made it into work yesterday absolutely black and blue, you should see my arm, its all the colours of the rainbow

I started to stiffen up at work and felt sick (I think where Id banged my head) so had to go and tell my 3 seargents what had happened , and guess what They howled with laughter too!!  But they did let me finish early

Have only just managed to get hold of my OH and blasted him, he just said he was sorry and that it wasnt his fault as he was half asleep!! (why do men always have to turn things around) Anyway I sent him a picture on my phone from work last night of my badly injured arm just to make him feel bad!  I reckon a nice meal out may just help me to forgive him (slightly)
