could someone give me the best advice on what amount of food a newly welped girl needs, i feel like she's too skinny, i know she is meant to be skinnyer than usual as the puppys are feeding from her, is this normal or will i need to give her lots more?

My girl who has 7 5 day old pups is eating allsorts.........she has fresh meat first thing, hour later she'll have scrambled eggs, then roughly every 2 hours she'll eat puppy food with dry mixed in,fresh meat, normal wet food etc oh and she quite partial to rice pudding at the moment. She's having nearly 2 pints of lactol a day aswell
I think its a case of offering small amounts as often as poss.....................she is slightly ribby still but she starting to fill out now

Give her as much food as she needs and she will need a lot feeding a litter. Make sure she has food such as a puppy food like James Wellbeloved, or a special food for bitches who have whelped. Higher protein, with lots and lots of water, so good food and fresh water all day and night to keep her milkflow going. Depends on her breed and how many pups, and how old they are but ring your Vets for advice,tomorrow. Please don't delay.

If you don't give her enough they will all suffer as her milk will dry up, but plenty of FRESH water too. 

|My girl this time has had the smallest litter that I've ever had but she's gone quite thin.  Eating anything and everything, but I have to say that she is definitely putting all of the goodness into her two pups.  One of the original importers of the breed came to see them tonight and she couldn't believe the bone on the pups.
