Topic Dog Boards / Health / blister on tongue...
- By DEARLADY [gb] Date 28.05.08 11:53 UTC
just a quick question....just found out that one of the pups, now 10 months old, had an accident at his home

he tried to pinch a sausage off a bar-b-q

he has ended up with a large blister on his tongue which prevents him from drinking, he is being fed mushy food to help his fluid intake..

I don't have any further info than this (just got an e-mail today) but wondered if anyone had had any similar experiences and had any tips I could pass on????

Think a vet would wish to reduce the blister and give the pup ABs, it is importaint that the dog can drink. Failing that the vet may wish to put him on a drip till the damage heals.

all I know is that the vet gave injections for pain etc, but he was having difficulty drinking

will e-mail them again to see how he's doing, but I really can't think of anything to help

poor thing! sounds very sore and i hope they get it sorted. at least he'll probably not try it again!

The vet must be happy about the amount of fluid he is getting then and the mouth does heal quickly so by now he is probably a good deal better.
