My mama dog had puppies about 3 days ago and she has NO MILK at all.. I thought it would have came in by now but it hasant and she had 13 pls tell me will it come in or is it just hopeless?
and it dosent look like its coming in at all..
Get to the vet, just to make sure that she is dry. The milk can take days to come in, but she should be producing something. Are the pups crying? Or are they quite plump and content? If the pups are well in themselves then I wouldn't worry, but if they are not putting on weight, are always crying and are dehydrated then you need to act now if you wish to keep them alive.

Are you sure? I presume that you are hand feeding the pups then? Many a time we cannot express milk but the pups definitely do.
If you are not hand feeding the pups then she definitely has got milk.

if you speak to heather Ridley she advises feeding salted crisps, cheap sausages, burgers etc so this makes the bitch thirsty
which in turn helps produce more milk, you need to get fluids in her even if its syringing.
The vet can give a small shot of oxytocin to let down any milk.
The vet is the most important person though to help you.Good luck

My bitch had very little milk when feeding her 9 puppies after about 10 days. She wasnt eating very much at the time, she is usually fed raw, so I fed her absolutely anything I could get her to eat, basically loads of junk food (a bit like Carolyn mentioned). I also used a herbal tonic prepared by my holistic vet and within 24 hours she had begun to produce much more milk. She went back to her raw food about 10 days later. I think it was the combination of eating more food and the herbal tonic. The herbs were Goats Rue, Raspberry, Borage, Fenugreek and Chaste Tree Bark. My vet uses strong herbs, I don't think the strength of health food shops are strong enough.

It is very easy to think a bitch has no milk as sometimes you can't express it or the bitch does not bag up. My Lexi reared her litter very well with them gaining beautifully, and she had a totally clan underline throughout, no boobs at all, just larger nipples.
The clue is if the pups are gaining and content.

Ditto above. I have never had a bitch with boobs, only just produced the required amount.
Weighing them daily best way to see if they are putting the correct weight on. Also if they were hungry they would be unhappy little things.

If the pups are sounding like seagulls and are unhappy/restless, then fennel tea will help to bring in the milk (it does inhuman mums too) but if the pups are content, warm and lively to handle then it would appear they are getting milk. A good way to reassure yourself is to weigh the pups once a day at the same time and write it down (I kept a puppy weight chart) then you can see the general trend and identify any who aren't doing well.
I've had one Bitch bag up with big boobies - she ended up with mastitis in the useless nipple under her front leg :( my other bitch didn't bag up and no milk really to speak of, pups fed well and grew really well - so the size of her boobs are no guide at all!
