Does anyone have any better ideas for sorting out puppy acne?
I've tried hibiscrub which is what the vet has suggested but it doesn't seem to be working :(

my puppy had a small outbreak, and after having it checked decided to leave it, took about 2-3 weeks to fully clear up.

I  just keep it as dry as poss and have even resorted to washing and drying his chin after meals :)

Yep its just one of those things. As long as you dont try picking at it, it will go away on its own.

Its one of those things where time is the only option really!

My Dobe has had countless skin problems, and also had terrible acne on his chin as a pup. The skin specialist he sees recommended Panoxyl Acnegel 5. It contains benzoyl peroxide and is designed for acne in people. I got it from Boots (OTC I think) but you can get it online here.  It does bleach fabrics though so best put on before a walk. You can also get it in 10% strength but she recommended we start with the 5%. I found it worked brilliantly - the description says results within 2 weeks but I was noticing a difference within just a couple of days.

ETA: it's also advisable to change any plastic food/water bowls to stainless steel.

My dobe had a bout of this and she used to make them bleed when playing with my other dog.
The vet didnt offer any medication however I read somewhere to change her bowl from a plastic one back to a stainless steel one and her acne disappeared over time.

I've always fed my dogs from stainless steel bowls :)

My youngster's acne is just starting to clear up, and like you found the hibscrub not really making any difference.  he's had it for around a month - someone suggested trying aloe vera gel, but as its starting to go, I've not bothered.

Common problem with boxer chins and no, it seldom goes away on it's own, quietens down but continues to flare up.Some dogs are very prone to it and some never have it.
Over the years my vet has given steroid cream to clear up the trouble.Used sparingly and at very low doses, it is apparently quite safe. It's hormonaly driven I believe.
