My friend went to see this and she said it was FANTASTIC!!

Its the sequel to Wizard of Oz, what the witches were really about etc etc :)

Is it a Musical?  :)
- By Rach85 [gb] Date 26.02.08 13:36 UTC
Yeah! :)

Try and imagine 'Wizard of Oz' before 'Wizard of Oz' the film but with music!

I can't wait, been wanting to see this and Dirty Dancing for a while now, but can only go on a Weds so had to go for Wicked this time! Spending the day with a friend I did my GCSE's & A Levels with but we drifted apart when she went to uni in London, I'm guessing they'll be lots of reminiscing! & hopefully some quality time in TopShop (I love that shop, it's my mecca!!)

WOW! What a show, nearly 3 hours long & superb, if anyone was thinking of taking a trip to London I would 100% recommend this show! Fab & well worth the money spent on tickets!!!

ohh lucky you! so jealous, i wanted to see it when i was in NY last year but couldn't get tickets (saw Spamalot and Phantom of the opera instead- also awesome!)

I read the book -by Gregory Maguire- it was SO bizarre it put me off going to see the show, but it sounds as if they've done a good job adapting it !

A lady I know was telling me that her daughter had the lead role in wicked. Her name is Kerry Ellis -I don't know if she is still in the show??

That names does ring a bell but I didn't buy a programme so can't be 100% certain.

I'm just resurrecting this thread to enquire from the OP or anyone else who has seen this show, whether there are scary bits in it?! This is because I would love to make the trip to see it, but so would my children aged 8 and 6. The show info says recommended for 8 years and over, so I wondered if it unsuitable or is this just because younger kids would not always concentrate for a 3 hour show? Thanks if anyone is able to help!

Just seen Kerry Ellis in Chess, brilliant actress.

Hi Honeybee.  It is a long show, especially the first half but it is very very good!  There are dark parts to it but I don't think a 8 or 6 year old would be scared, to be honest they might not be able to keep up with the plot etc, it's not as singalong as Sound of Music or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang though.  Don't get me wrong it's still a musical but not what I would say in a traditional style. Does that make any sense?!! Hope that has helped (not too sure it has though, sorry!)

Thanks gembo. I have already gone mad and booked us 3 tickets! We have never done anything like this before, never taken the kids anywhere except visiting family and they are so excited. We are looking at lots of clips on YouTube and discussing it all so they have an idea what to expect and they both have a long attention span so I am confident they will cope with the length of the show. All the musical numbers have really grabbed us and we're singing the songs already! It looks incredible, can hardly wait!

I'm sure you'll have a great time, the theatre is 2 mins walk from Victoria tube station, you can't miss it with the big sign outside!

Not for the kids obviously but they do some great cocktails for the interval, can't quite remember the names but they're green & pink, you'll understand when you see the show!

Enjoy!  I'm going to see Dirty Dancing with 8 other girls on June 13 & can't wait, I've wanted to see it since it's stage debut!

Let me know what you think!
- By Honeybee [gb] Date 22.05.08 15:34 UTC
Thankyou, yes I'll let you know what we think but we have a little wait as we're not going till late July. (moving house first hence splashing out as we will have a small profit) We're even staying in the 'Wicked recommended hotel' very close by.  Yes I get the green and pink cocktails.....did you  see the original green witch Idina Menzel? She seems an amazing performer.  Hope you enjoy 'Dirty Dancing' I bet that will be great too, I remember loving the film which is hard to believe is 25 years ago!

Just heard they've changed the cast since I went to see it but it's still getting rave reviews! This might be the excuse I need to go see it again! Hope you have a fab time when you go!
