Does anyone know of any good suppliers in the Downpatrick area of NI for Prize Choice frozen foods please? I am having real trouble finding one.
Thanks!

Only place I have found AMP/Prize Choice is in Pets at Home and some branches of Jollyes (the one in Bangor used to stock a good range but I haven't been there for a while). However, it works out quite pricey when you can't buy in bulk. I did contact all the major raw suppliers when I started raw feeding but none would do deliveries to NI unless it was a massive amount (like a lorryload!!) and I just don't know enough likeminded people to share a huge order with. You may find it easier to approach a local farm butcher (N.Ireland has no shortage of them) and see what they can offer you. We can get everything but tripe which we still have to buy frozen from PAH.
How are you liking NI so far?
Thanks. We haven't got an extra freezer yet, so limited freezer space, which makes Pets At Home is a bit far for a weekly visit really, especially as my OH is going away on wednesday. I did notice they did some Prize Choice though.
It's quite hard to find a local farm butcher, as no-one here seems to have any life at all off camp! There is a butchers that come onto camp in their van, but they charge £250 per lb of mince, which is far too dear for the doggies! I can get large bones from him cheaply, which are kind of in between recreational and meaty bones, and pigs trotters (if he can get them) but everything else is just too dear. I might try the couple of butchers there are in Newcastle.
There must be loads of proper butchers round here, it's just finding them!
I am liking NI so far, although don't like living on camp at all. It takes some getting used to!

Are you a member of Britbarf? You may find someone on there that knows suppliers. If you want to ask but don't want to join and aren't a member let me know and I'll ask for you. I did a search through old posts and as of 2007 no one knew of a supplier but if enough of you got together you might be able to swing it. Prize Choice must deliver over there if PAH stocks it. Maybe you could piggy-back some orders with them.

Hi Lori
When I enquired before, Prize Choice said that they deliver to a main PAH warehouse where it is then distributed across the country by PAH themselves, unfortunately. The Britbarf site idea is a good one though.
Honestly, some companies seem to think N.Ireland is somewhere just left of Mars rather than a few miles across the Irish Sea!!
Thanks Lori, if you could ask, that'd be great thankyou. I will try to join, but I am rubbish at most yahoo groups and can't work them out, still not that computer literate. :-)
ShaynLola, I know what you ,mean, although NI is part of the UK, it doesn't feel like it when you want the same services as are available in the UK, like dog food delivery!

I've posted the question so we'll see. It's quite easy to join Kirstie and they're a friendly bunch. If you're just starting out it's a good resource to have.
That's a shame Jules. They deliver to me directly from their Leeds warehouse and the same guy comes to my area every Monday. One of you just needs to get a refrigerated van and meet a supplier at the ferry. A business opportunity??
