took skye on her walk and she grabbed a massive dead bird and ate it i tryed to get it off her but was unable will this upset her stomach much?

probably not, dogs digestive tracts are designed to deal with maky things that would do terrible damage to us. there systems are shorter and far more acidic so can deal with it better. keep an eye on her though

made me feel so sick yukkkkk she seems ok well at the moment anyway time will tell later !!

thing is to her the meat will have been pleasently aged to improve scent and flavour :)

You should see some of the disgusting things that mine eat ;-) It's normal for dogs to scrounge around for any scrap to eat, no matter that it turns our stomachs (yukk!)

She should be fine,dogs love manky things,their version of a box of Thortons chocolates I guess.Just make sure her wormer is up to date.

They eat the most disgusting things! Cole usually rolls in it before eating it, hes so gross! The favourite is usually pigeon.

Then he walks around slapping his lips and foaming at the mouth afterwards *rolls eyes*.

LOL they love the most disgusting things:( mine to likes to comp on a dead bird or anything else that comes to mind!! they look so proud of themselves afterwards!!!

My 2 youngest came out of the bushes last week with the remains of a whole chicken (leftover picnic?) that was dripping with maggots! They came to no harm but my stomach was iffy for the rest of the day LOL.

Reminds me of the time my friends puppy ate the contents of my slug trap!

It was very very hot that summer and I should have emptied the slug traps but because of work and one thing and another they had been left for at least two hot smelly weeks. Anyway the smell was enough to make even the strongest person heave, and the pup just thought it was all so delicious she ate the lot! Luckily I have organic poison free slug traps and as my friend did the gardens either side of us they also had porridge oats in water style slug traps.

We rushed the pup to the vet who said that as I had water and porridge oat slug traps there was little likely hood of the pup eating anything nastier than the rotten slugs. He also said that the pup might have diarrhoea, but as it turned out it didn't!

When my eldest was about 4 months old she raided the bin bags (hot weather)  I noticed her crunching something and hurried to retrieve it only to find she had a whole stash.....of rotten chicken carcase heaving with maggots, I couldn't stop the maggots coming out of the bag - there were soooo many it was like something out of the X-FILES!!!!!      I had to get a few kettles of boiling water to kill the maggots as I could just imagine what the next stage of the process was and I couldn't sweep them up to dispose of them   I was dreading the tummy troubles, cooked chicken bones and maggoty chicken :( but she was fine! I heaved for the rest of the week and had nightmares too :(

Oh my goodness....that is absolutely vile Dill!  Bleurrggggghhhhhhhhh!!!
One thing that can be harmful is dead frogs. Oscar ate a sundried crispy frog he found and was extremely ill. Apparently they become toxic when dead and dried. Yuk!

Gosh, and some thought my "blue rare" post was awful.  :)  Our last Lab ate her share of disgusting things and came to no harm.  But spiders made her sick every time.  There are no poisonous ones here.  Maybe they tickled on the way down.

Mine ignore anything deceased in the field for about a week and then they rolling it for a few days before someone eats it, and no it does not seem to harm their stomachs but it turns mine.

I'm so glad neither of mine seem to be interested in blue, rare or any other kind of processed grass delicacies :-D  - I actually think it would be more heave worthy than maggoty chicken ;) - especially as they would probably feel compelled to rush up and give me loving licks on the mush straight after!  (need a chucking up smiley)
