i have a night out at the weekend and need a hand picking an outfit. im going shopping for a new top today or tomorrow, and need to know what colours go with red. i bought beautiful red shoes in a january sale and havent worn them yet and are desperate to do so. i will be wearing black trousers or dark dressy skinny denims on bottom and was wondering if anyone had an opinion apart from a black or red top?
im 23 years old, 5ft 7, size 10 on top, 12 on bottom, have dark brown hair, green eyes and pale skin. im awful at fashion so any help would be most appreciated! thanks!

Pink & black go well together & pink with jeans does as well.

Not vibrant fuschia pink though!  :-(

Hi, you could wear white, cream, silver, grey or the black or red and just wear red accessories - like bracelets, belt clutch handbag etc

Yeah, but I wouldn't put pink top with red shoes.  If you want to wear these shoes you gonna need something to tie them in like a top with red in it.  I think a glitzy red top with black trousers & red shoes would look fab.  Just don't wear a red hat ;-)

with red shoes and black trousers you could go for a neutral colour such as : grey,  black or white or neutrals with a splash of red. If it is a really dressy evening then you could go for silver or gold.  I'd be careful about wearing more than 3 colours so red, black and one other should look fine, yellow or blue could also work but you would have to be really careful so I think stick to neutrals.

If you are adamant on wearing the red shoes my opinion would be:

red shoes, black trousers - as black and red are so dominant, I personally would have to wear a black or red/black top with red handbag, to match the shoes, otherwise even with a white blouse/top there will be too many colours when you wear red you need to be careful.

I would much prefer the wear red shoes, denim pants - you can be much more versatile with top colour, but as the red shoes will be dominant you need a light understated colour for a top, like cream, beige, white, silky oyster colours you can get away with a little pattern but no bright colours as the focal point is the red shoes, you would not need red accessories to carry off the look and could have a denim bag or one to match your top.

Personally I would go for a black top with red detail. :)

I quite like a caramel colour with red so you could go for a caramel/camel colour top (satin or silk would look good) with perhaps a red belt to pick up the red shoes and even a red jacket.  Else go nautical and wear navy/white stripes with a red jacket/belt.  Would look good with dark blue jeans and is fresh and smart casual.  I love red. :D

I remember learning that you must never go with more than three colours in any outfit.

You cant go wrong with a black top.  I bought a lovely pair of red shoes in the sales about a month ago.  I wore them when we went for a nice romantic weekend away with a really nice pair of black trousers and a black shirt.  I then persuaded my hubby to buy me a red beaded necklace and earrings!

I also have got a black camisole and wore that with a red cardi (it was one of those short lightweight knitted ones with 3/4 sleeves and a single button just below the chest).

Silver glittery top would also go nicely.
