i know this has been asked soooooooo many times but have just started doing my girls temp and it was 37.5c i am going to do it again at 8pm what should her temp be in celcius before whelping starts and what should i take as a sign welpin is iminent as i know that if it drops below 99f whelping is iminent but i am no good converting temps lol all help apreciated
ok i have found a converter on my fone and the reading i got cant be right dont think i kept the thermometer there long enuff as 37.5 i should see some other signs surely and she is only on day58 so will try again and update thanks
my girls temp was up an down from day 57 and nesting from day 58 then on day 63 6.30 am temp went down 37.1
shivering start 5am diggings was all night she didn't start panting till 9.45pm and first pup 11.43pm.
i would say you should keep a close eye on her from now but don't expect anything to happen for possibly a couple of days but she could surprise you.
good luck

From day 53 to 56 my girls temp was around 37.5 to 37.8, then day 57 dropped to 37.1, day 58, the propper drop 36.6, day 59 PUPPIES!! :-) Josie didn't do any nesting until the hour before the pups were born, also wouldn't go into the whelping box until she'd had her first pup.
Good luck, not long now.
well i am not expecting anything till next week but i just feel so bad for her she is falling asleep standing up and trys to sleep with her bum in the air looks so funny but i think she has had enough now i can feel pups moving alot and im suprised she has any room in there her stomach feels really hard and like there are rocks in there if that makes sense today is day 59 and she has bouts of panting only 5 mins ata time and i presume this is as she is exausted as she only does it when laid on the sofa i dont know how you breeders can do it time after time it is soo upsetting as you cant do anything for them i cant wait for her to have them for her sake so she can get a good nights sleep evrything is at the ready juust waiting for my micro hot water bottle to come

oh its all getting rather exciting isn't it! poor girl, sounds likes she doesn't much enjoy being preggers.
keep an eye on her and let us know when things kick off

I know just how you feel, my girl is on day 54 and is quite large for the 4 pups the scan saw, so we shall wait and see on that one, she too is very restless, spends her evenings constantly changing position and whining. I am doing her temps and yesterday was 37.7 and today 37.2, my breed usually whelps around day 62 so not too long to go hopefully. Good luck with your girl, keep us informed it is great hearing about all these other litters being born. :)
My Golden Retriever seemed to have a fluctuating temp for a whole week before pups arrived. Came down to 98.96/37.2 five days before whelp, but then came back up again to 100/37.8! 2 days before, it went steadily down from Saturday morn til Sunday night, 37.9, 37.4, 37.1, 37.0 then on the Mon morn she was digging, panting and nesting, and first pup arrived 15:10 on the Monday!
Hope all goes well
well had her to the vets as she wont drink or eat alot and also breathing very fast but not panting they said i should expect her to go early because of how large she is and she is breathing fast due to the discomfort also she took her temp and it was 38.4 highest it has been yet so we shall see they also said if her breathing gets worse or she gets any more exausted (she is falling asleep stood up) then i may have to take her in again for them to do something and she will likely need oxytocin when the time comes due to how tired she is
well her temp this morning was 36.9/98.42 and just then it was 36.7/98.6 so if it stick there or drops again should i expect puppies soon

Sounds like a drop to me :-) I would be sleeping with her tonight. I also stopped taking my bitches temp, once it got that low. She was very good at rolling over for her temp to be taking, but I knew she was getting sick of it. I left her in peace and had puppies by the morning.
My bitch had he rfirst litter last year and her temperature moved around between 36.9 and 37.5 (even went up to 37.9 once!) for the whole last week. Then it went down to 36.6 and I was sure that must be it, but no other signs. Eventually on day 59 she stopped eating or drinking completely, so I thought that must, must be it, despite her temp and no other signs. Then day 60 she started eating and drinking again! Her temperature was 36.1 though, and sure enough she had her pups on the night of day 60.
I think she had been int he early stages on day 59 personally. She did seem different, although nothing you could put your finger on.

anything happen yet? :)
well nothing as yet but her temp is still low 36.6 and last night i was at work and came home to find she had chewed the corner of her box and acording to oh she was digging a bit aswell her bed was a rite state at the minit she is sat on a kingsize quilt in my front room and really is not showing any signs so i am not sure but her breathing is a little fast and thankfully both my girls are still getting on great will keep u updated
> both my girls are still getting on great will keep u updated
I assume your bitch will be in a separate room where the other won't be allowed for her whelping and early puppy days?
The other area you will need to be careful about is when your newly whelped bitch goes out to toilet. the other one is likely to be very curious about her smell, which the new Mum may not appreciate and a fight could easily ensue, thereby harming their later interactions.
So when new Mum gets take to loo try to ensure the other does not interfere with her, and someone distracts her.
Later you may also have to watch out for any one upmanship from the new Mum. Bitches that have a litter often get an inflated opinion of their status and importance, which they may try to make clear to the other canines. It isn't surprising really as when they have pups they are getting special and extra attention, and also in the wild it would only be the Alpha bitch that had pups, therefore not surprising the bitch feels she is higher ranking. I mention this as I believe your girls are close in age,a nd of a feisty often dog dominant breed. Forewarned is forearmed. You can often forestall conflict before it has a chance to start.
hi all so far we have 1 girl 3 boys and she is in the middle of having another we have a red boy red girl brindle boy and black boy with white socks and there is at least 2 more
