I'm really suffering with this at the moment :(, can't sleep, feel groggy all day, nose is red & sore from sneezing & I can't wear my contacts as my eyes are so itchy & watery they end up falling out!!! Feeling really sorry for myself! Whilst everyone else is enjoying the nice weather, I find myself wishing for rain!! Anyone else suffer? Any proven remedy recommendations?!

I suffered really badly with hayfever but at the moment i seem to be ok though. I went to the doctors every summer and got a different concoction none of which ever worked. I even went as far as getting a steriod injection a few doctors disagreed but i was desperate as it always affected my summer exams, id be sat at the table sneezing disturbing my whole year with a toilet roll on my desk. The injection worked for 3 weeks (suppose to last for 6 months) and then wore off, i lived in lancashire. I have now moved to lincolnshire and i dont even have a sniffle touch wood yet. Maybe a trip to your GP to get something a little stronger. I also think now i have moved away from my parents thats helped lol. i had no school at summer id be home all the time maybe a little psychological of the parent allergy.

I bought the lloyds chemist version of medinose but haven't used it yet.  It is a wee device that you put up your nose for a few minutes a couple of times a day and then bingo you are cured.  The original sells for approx £80 and the lloyds one is £15.  They have a deal on at the minute where you also get an air purifier for £10 and if you buy more than one thing you get £5 off so I got both for £20 - bargain!

My hubby and son both suffer from hayfever (asthma) My son has had a cronic asthmatic cough since winter and now on a stronger inhaler- My hubby wakes every morning with puffy eyes that tend to leak, they both have bags under their eye's :(

I was told to not have the house to humid since dustmites love that- wash bedding once a week and pillow- get a matress cover so I can vacuum it and any toys he sleeps with (which he does not) to freeze them then vaccuum them as well.  I was also told when pollen is high, or dusty out ect keep all windows and doors shut...

They did have me put my son on singulair (sp) but I took him off since I was told their is sucide tendency's on it- a child did kill himself and well since my hubby is bipolar not taking any chances with my son...

The joys of summer... Atleast we have hardwood pretty much thro out the house so much easier to keep clean compared to carpet...

I was told to take local honey every day throughout the spring/summer time when I am affected. It has worked, but it has to be locally made honey, not the usual off the shelf supermarket stuff. The local bees make the honey fron the local plants which is what I'm allergic to. I've been taking clarityn for years and the honey has made a huge difference. I used to wake up with itchy eyes and runny nose, I don't anymore.

Daily dose of Zirtek here, and beconase nasal spray on top if I get any symptoms.

I've just been a bought some Beandryl Plus with congestion relief from Boots & you get soemthing called Hay Max free with it, apparently it's to be put around you nostrils & it will catch the pollen before it irritates you! See how I get on...I've had real difficulties in finding honey that is local enough to me, closest I could get is from Chatsworth but I live in Nottingham, I think it needs within a certain mile radius to work!!

try looking for your local bee keeping society and they will Be able to advise of members locally.

Yep local honey, lots of swimming (or at least wash your hair every night to get the pollen out).  Sun glasses/glasses to keep the stuff out of your eyes.

I suffer, my 4 & 5 year old kids suffer, it's a wonder that we still live in the country ;-) My kids are on piriton syrup, I'm on various different ones as I have to keep changing brands etc.

Rain often makes it worse before it gets better so be careful what you wish for ;-)

I've been taking anti-hists this time around, tried sprays - don't like them at all gave me sinusitus and spent all summer on decongestants and paracetamol last year.  I religiously wear my sun glasses but that is more about wrinkle reduction than pollen!!

I heard that local honey and local oilseed rape oil is meant to be beneficial.  I have tried herbal remedies in the past a red onion one worked rather well and I really don't know why I didn't use this again, I have a feeling you had to eat massive amounts of the tablet to get it going and it was quite expensive at the time and I was quite broke!

Give New Era Homoeopathically prepared biochemic remedy from the health food shops. They cost £4.50 per tub of 450 tabs which you take 4, 3 times a day and you can take more quite safely if you need them. I still cannot believe that they work, but believe me, they do!!

I'm struggling to find our local bee keeping society, can find Derbys but not Nottingham! Can anyone help?
