Topic Dog Boards / Health / recognise symptoms??
- By labmad [gb] Date 13.05.08 13:08 UTC
Ok - Henry has had inflammed ears lately (checked by vet - had steroid injection/anti b injection and canaural) but I've noticed some other symptoms creeping in lately....

Apart from ears, slightly watery nose (clear), itching mainly around neck/arm pits, sneezing more than usual......

Does allergy/hayfever spring to mind???

Any thoughts?

Does to me, do the symptoms improve if given anti-histamine?

to be honest havent tried them yet.  Not sure about dosage etc anyway...

Get Piriton, the original type not the non-drowsy and start with 3 a day all given at the one time, if this worries you ask your vet for their opinion.

We use piriton for one of ours that gets sore ears and itchy skin, seems to help her. We asked our vet for the correct dosage over the phone and we buy it at Boots.

Yes, should ask the vet, I don't know the breed so assumed it was as in the Avatar. The OP may well have other dogs so yes, please do check with the vet although it is a relatively safe drug.

Hi,
Sounds like could be allergy.
Yes I have used piriton, on small dogs 8kg works well and very safe on dogs, but do check with vet first. :-)
