Hi, I wonder if I could ask for some advice please.  I have a six year old male GSD, Tyler, who recently has become very stiff on his back legs.  He is on Glucosamine Chondroitin, Green Lipped Muslce and Devil's Claw.  The vet has looked at him and said he is very stiff so to up the dose of supplements, possibly give him some Metecam if he is particulary stiff and walk him as normal all of which I have been doing.  I have been lead walking him around the roads to see if this made any difference, it hasn't really so I took him down to the fields and within 20 minutes he had started limping on one of his front legs.  He seems happy when he is out on his walks, but at home is not his usual boistrous self and has awful trouble getting up after lying down.  Should I let him run or lead walk him, not sure what to do for the best.

Thankyou.

Hi there, personally I would get him back to the vet & find out why he is stiff and find out why he was limping on the front leg (problems with front legs can cause the dog to adjust it's walking and effect the movement in the back legs), in the mean-time I would keep him on-lead and resrtict running/jumping untill you know exactly what the problem is.

Hi

I will be taking him back to the vets, it was really the exercise I wasn't too sure about.  I also forgot to mention that Tyler has some slight muscle wasting on his right hind leg.  Thanks for the reply.
