right to cut a long story short we had some men come round to do the gas and one of them left the door open and bailey got out as they made a loud noise and she ran off about 3 hours i was looking for her anyway we've got her back but the pads on her paws and all ripped and the poor thing cant stand or walk i think it was due to her walking or running but what should i do to stop her paws from hurting

Soak them in a salt bath. alot ofsalt in boiling water, leave to cool and put her paws in for a good few minutes.
#glad you got he back safe :)

have you checked her over for any other injuries?
if you think she has just injured them by running
i would bathe them in some antiseptic
if you are really worried take to the vets when they open
hope she will be ok
i bet you were worried sick. glad you found her :-)

Ditto to what Lea said.

By sher co-incidence one of my dogs did one of his paws in this way yesterday. Just one though. He was running fast and stopping TOO fast on tarmac and ripped one paw to shreds. I figured there wasn't much a vet could do so have just made sure he rests and it is kept clean. He's still sore today of course but much better than yesterday. He will have to do without walks for a while though...

If its all her paws it will be painful for her. I would try soaking them again this morning tea tree oil is another good healer (put a few drops in water). If she wont walk on them you can buy the protective boots for dogs at PAH or just bandage and use old socks taped at the top to secure around her legs, get some micropore tape from the chemist to use.

We can't see the damage but if she is unable to walk in the morning I would take her to the vets to be examined. It is possible she has other injures as damaging the feet to that extent by running, though possible may not be the cause of the damage.

I would try to clean the area out, but since she is having nothing to do of it, then I would take her to the vets.  It could be a greater injury, or something stuck in her paw under the skin which could be causing her more pain.

Hope she is feeling better soon.

Take care, let us know how she gets on.

I would just let her rest, she'll be shocked as well, so that could be why she's not wanting to walk as such.  Wouldn't put antiseptic on, salt water is best and if she's still the same later then take her to the vets.

One of my girls went missing at a friends when I was away on holiday and was exactly the same as yours.  I ending coming back home early of course, but she was fine the next day.

Bathe them daily and rub on an antiseptic cream (like sudocream) with an bandage and/or pair of socks for a few days. That will stop them being painful to walk on and cushion the pad for a few days. Will also keep them clean.Let the air to it after a few days

Trip to the vets aswell may be a good idea

Skinned feet are often a sign of an RTA so having the Vet check her/him? over is the best thing to do.

glad shes doing better kerrie, hope the vets don;t find any other issues and the feet heal ok
- By Crespin Date 08.05.08 10:39 UTC
Good to hear that she is doing better, and hopefully the vets can get a nice look at them, and help out as well.
