On another post, I've been advised to whistle train my Lab boy.  Where online is the best place to get a whistle and what is the best sort?

Thanks,

Ok, have ordered whistle and lanyard (pretty purple one)  £6.20 from gifts for gundogs.    Now I need basic step by step instructions on how to use it correctly please!!

All advice appreciated thanks

First you decide what 'code' you're going to use - it's entirely up to you. For a recall I use four short 'pips', and I train this by blowing the 4 pips every time I give the dog his dinner. Once he's associated it with food, I start giving the signal when I'm in the garden with him, when I want to give a treat - blow the 4 pips, and call him over, then reward with the treat and give loads of praise. I find it best if the whistle always means a terrific reward, and never anything unpleasant.

I started to train for recall with the whistle by using it to play tuggy.

You can buy the pink acme whistle and lanyard in both 210.5 and 211, all the profits go to Brast Cancer research, they are sold exclusively by blackgundog, here is the link http://www.blackgundog.com/productDetails.asp?item=acme-dog-training-whistle-210-5-special-edition
Alternatively, you can pick up the normal black acme whistles from Turner Richards, GearandGundog or Quest gundog for about £4.50.

i dont think the cancer ones are exclusive to them as our local shooting shop also sells them for same cause.

Must have changed then as when I bought them it stated they were sold exclusively by blackgundog and still does on the website, as long as the money goes to a good cause it doesn't matter really who sells them.

Yep they are the ones who sold them exclusively.  I also didn't know that they are now sold at shops.
