hi
im new to this site, 2mins exactly! two of my three dogs are due boosters soon, and i just can't make up my mind. there is a risk of distemper here, from the dead seals that wash up sadly having died from the recent outbreak, so that terrifys me! I just can't decide what to do for the best. Are nosodes really that good? I can't remember any of my late father's german shepherds ever having yearly boosters, only the puppy ones, and they all lived to ripe old ages. all of mine have had there puppy vaccs. can i now change to nosodes if i wanted, and how often would they need to be done? any info gratefully received!!

Hi M/Dogs, it`s something you have to decide for yourself. Nearly all(if not all by now) the Vet Teaching Unis in the USA are advising 2/3 yrs for dogs to be boostered but to have titres done yearly. Also one of the major vac manufactures are also due to announce the same thing. These can be done in Glasgow Vet Uni.after your vet takes the blood sample. If you go to forum search, top right on page & put in any of the words vaccines, boosters, adverse reactions, nosodes you will get a lot of info on these issues.Lots of info on the net as well.
By the way welcome to the forum, what breed of dogs have you got? :)

i've got a working cocker spaniel - 2 years , a springer spaniel - 1 year and a gsd/collie puppy 6 months old. thanks for the reply, I will check out the info you suggested. I did have a golden retriever which I lost to cancer four months ago, after which i changed all of my dogs diets firstly to a natural feeding method and then after researching to Burns Real Dog Food. Loosing my Golden at only 2 years old made me rethink everything i took for granted with my dogs, ie feeding and vaccines. so at the moment i'm really gratefull for any advice as per homeopathic remedies etc as I feel that going down the more natural path has got to be better for my dogs.

M/Dogs here is a site with lots of links you might like to look at. Think there should be some links to nosodes as well.

I've just had a look at that site, Christine, there's some really good stuff on it. I was particularly interested in the Catherine O'Driscoll debate - she was the lady who, over the phone, correctly 'guessed' that my recently boostered dog had contracted hepatitis.

Hi Joyce, glad you liked it. Catherines great isn`t she, works tirelessly for the benefit of dogs well all animals I should say. She has her own list you know, k9health it`s called.
