hi my girl is nearly 8weeks in whelp but has gone of dried puppy food ,she will still eat the tined puppy ,would it be ok to put her back on adult food and mix the puppy meat in with the adult food
thanks dawn
My girl did this from 7 weeks in whelp and i ended up feeding her barf all the way through her having the pups. She caused me such a nightmare and would only eat raw meat and gruel but both her and pups thrived. Sorry i couldn't give you any advice on if its ok to put her back on the adult food , just try mixing something in extra tasty to tempt her if you haven't already tried that!
mel.

Not much room for food at this stage .I always give my girls what they want and only in small amounts last week of pregnacy she will eat well once pups are born.
My old girl would only eat tinned rice, scrambled egg and raw chicken wings during her last week ;-) She definately made up for it later. :-)
thanks guys i'll try her with something tasty am sure she would love rice pudding

Hi
My pup when she was 8 weeks to 10 weeks was a nightmare to feed, i found she liked NATURES MENU in small bits, thankfuly when she reach over 10 weeks she was eating fine and still is
I did find just putting smal amounts down made her eat more
she would be more then happy to eat the adult food but was concerned it would be to rich!
Good luck

Emma, the OP has a pregnant bitch that is 8 weeks pregnant

;-)
A lot of bitches will stop eating during the last week or so, there just isn't the room for food if she is carrying a large litter :-D Giving little and often is usually a good way to feed them.
I always soak the puppy food as my girl also goes off it dry and then it is generally then wolfed down, also add chicken and meats to it, she really loves it then. :-)

iv noticed alot of members feed chicken wings? i prop sound thick but i thought you couldnt give dogs chicken bones incase they splinter and they choke on them?..am i dumb? ha! ;)
raw chicken wings are fine as the bones are easily crunched - it's cooked bones athat are a complete no-no as they do splinter ;)

Moisten the dry with some warm water, and mix in some puppy tinned to make it more interesting.
You could also try mixing in a little raw defrosted steak mince. That usually does the trick. Goodluck!

I know exactly what you mean, my bitch ate far better than we did while nursing her pups!! :-)
