Definatly a man!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sire/Dog on top, Dam/Bitch below. ;-0

Must have been a man after seeing a mating (dog on top, LOL ), but of course men always think they coem first.

ashleig just wanted to say again that your doing really well with the planning of the litter. your clearly trying to be as organised as poss. how long now?

Also I was wondering how your other bitch and this one are getting along.
What are their relative ages?
This may be something to think about if keeping a puppy, as Mum may be possessive about the pup (or like some of mine may be all too happy to have an Aunty take on a lot of the later mothering role).
well its 3 weeks to go now cant wait my 2 are getting on fantasticly they are so close its sweet tia is 3 in september and skye is 3 aswell

I would just sound a note of caution that this may not continue after the pups are born, so be careful, as it is natural for the Mum to become defencive and things can kick off when the other is curious about the smell on the Mum, or if the Mum thinks she may come near and hurt her babies, or the other bitch may be put out about the extra attention the other is understandably getting.
With my won breed Mums are happy for me to bring the pups into the kitchen, though they won't allow the others to come too close to the pups for another week or so.
Mum is right to be protective of her pups as it has been known for another bitch to kill a bitches pups, though it is rare.
This happened to a friend of an older breeder I knew. The Mum had gone out to relieve herself and the other bitch sneaked into the whelping room and killed the pups.

Hi ashleigh8,
I always separate preg bitch 1 week before due.
This gives her her own space to rest, before the big event and it gives her time to get used to whelping box.
Good Luck :-)
I've never separated my bitches until they have started to whelp - they get upset if they are apart from the others ;-)
My bitch wouldn't let anyone in the pups room for the first 4 weeks, and only after that under her very controlled supervision :-) My male stuck his head in and decided that he really didn't want to go in when they were just a few hours old. He kept sticking his head through the door though :-D My other bitch wasn't allowed in at all. In fact if mum knew she was anywhere near she would start growling, so I made sure they never got near. Once the pups were allowed outside mum started to relinquish responsibility, but watched closely.

my girl has one week left but iv never separated her form my other girl..they are so close they have always slept in the same (extra large!) crate though they have one each!...but i did decide the other day to start putting them in their own crate only so my girl who's not in whelp would get used to sleeping on her own! (bless) i just thought it may be a shock to her system if once the pups are here shes left to sleep on her own...when i put her in her own bed my pregnant girl got out of hers and went in with her sis..so it was the other way round it was my pregnant girl who didnt want to sleep alone! ha! but i put her back in hers again and they have been fine :) :)

Having just been allowed back I am saying nothing.

:-D :-D
Glad I'm not the only one on here with a slightly naughty mind LOL
:-)

From memory, I'm with you on that front.
can i just say, i wrote on here a few weeks ago with a similar situation.....
I have 2 preganat girls although not sisters are the same age and have been brough up together. one was getting a little high strug near the due date! well channel gave birth in the middle of the night, and popped all 6 out within 4 hours, she was really good and only needed a little help...meanwhile my other, lady was going bonkers with jelousy... she gave birth 4 days later at tea time to 4 and needed a lot of help as each was breech and blueish.... all was fine after a good nights sleep though...
now its 2 weeks on and both mothers will allow a little access to each others, but at the start it was fisticuffs if they went near eithers room.
I dont think they would hurt each others pup, i think there mainly curious or want to have all pups to themselves.. but they did have a couple of times or bitch fighting, so I had to seperate totaly for the first week, each day that goes by they are getting better and am sure they can all go together when walking properly in the garden, and im sure the mothers will be glad for diversion..
So i would just keep a close eye on them at the start but try not worry if their best friends theyll get through it...

god your brave! only one of my girls is in whelp and im worried sick about her and D-DAY..im plan on putting her whelping box in my bedroom for the first two weeks so i can keep an eye on her and pups 24/7..dont know how you manage to split yourself between the two 24/7 you must be worn out!! not to mention all the cleaning you must be doing with two whelping boxes to clean all the time..i'll stick to one at the time ha! couldnt cope with two sets at once! GOOD! LUCK! :)
thanks but i dont find it any harder than last year when i only had the 1.... i also have a 5yr old daugter who is only too willing to help...
you know they are in seperate rooms either side of mine and its just like when my baby was little, any little noise and you automatically wake up and attend to them, these lot seem to be dying to crawl out ther whelping box this time though, but they let you know when there not happy. i dont think you will sleep atall if there right next to you....
im sure it will go fine with...good luck have lots of clean towels at the ready... mine went through 4 loads of washing in the first day....
So much work....how ever do you manage to clean and fully socialise 10 puppies from 2 different litters? And see to your young daughter/home etc. Or am I being to picky?
i dont think you will sleep atall if there right next to you.... .......but where better to be if something suddenly went wrong?
I clean whelping box and area around both 3 times a day, at night daughter weights each as i do this and cuddles them and mum... mums get walks 3 times a day after cleaning to give her legs a stretch as both are normally glued to the boxes..
i am not constantly with them as i work also 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon...
May be i just like been busy.... but i dont feel complete unless im doing something....or maybe im super woman....lol, th emums do most of the work anyway, give it 2 more weeks when all are following the ankles i might change my mind, but this is the first time for it. so ill give anything a go once.... it wasnt my fault both were in heat at same time....

yes thats what i thought i dont care what anyone! says that whelping box will be right next to my bed ha!..(when i had my babies "a long time ago now! ha!) i was the same with them they slept in my room in their cot and you are right the slightest noise and i was up like a bat out of hell;)..know for a fact im going to be the same with "my girl" (who means the world!! to me)..am sorry but theres no way i could leave her and wee tiny pups in another room?? please dont think im being harsh i know everyone has their own way.. but thats just me.. but really again i know people do have large litters of 10 and so on but you also have 2!! mums and your own 5 year old child.. how do you find the time to sleep!! ha! al have a pint! of what your drinking! ;) ;)

again really!! dont mean to sound harsh but just because they were in heat at the same time that dosnt mean you had to mate them both!! or am i wrong?? :(

i suppose im lucky i dont have to work now but if i did i wouldnt breed one of my girls never mind two unless there was someone else in the home who could mum and puppy watch.. can i ask what kind of dogs you have? do you have someone to watch them while your at work for 4 hours? what happens if mum needs the loo? am i being picky here? im sorry if you think i am i dont know you or your girls but that wont stop me worrying about them ha! do you think you will be able to find really good homes for the 10 pups?
ok, i know from a past post i dont come accross very well writing... so let me try explain better....
each are in spare rooms either side of my bed room, so the slightest noise it is the same as next to me,but i could favor either by putting 1 lot in my room... i thought it would cause too much trouble of jelousness if i only bred one...so i though iw ud try both and it has worked out fine, however its nto over and i might decide ill never do it again. they are bichon frise, the mum has enough room around the whelpbox to occupy her and a toilet area for her while i am out.... no can never be with them 24 hrs a day....
i took time off for the births and days following and it is only 2 hours im away at any time...
do i need to explain anything else?
sorry forgot to mention i already had a waiting list of 5 for pups from last time i bred and was inundated with people...
so i havent started advertising yet as they have no personality for people to choose or for me to recomend to for a few weeks yet....
im in spain and there doesnt seem to be many of the bichon frise about. there are lots of the bichon maltese or havanese, so i am trying to get spain aquainted again!

> no can never be with them 24 hrs a day....
I'm guessing that's a typo and you meant "no can EVER be with them 24 hrs a day" ??? If not I apologise but if so, I can assure you I was with mine 24/7 - everything else in life went on hold including cooking (never had the handle on that one anyway LOL) and shopping. My litter slept in the bedroom with us and I was at home all day and night for the first few weeks. After that occasionally OH and I got the chance to go to the shops or for lunch together on the proviso my daughter was home from Uni at the time to take over the job of nanny until I got back :)
TBH I can't see how anyone could possibly have time to do everything needed if even just taking time to go to the shops never mind working, however nearby and for however short periods. I guess we each plan things differently but I wouldn't change my own routine in case something went wrong and I wasn't around to fix it.
regards, Teri

I never left my puppies alone ever, I slept with them & had puppy sitters(close friends & relatives)if I had to go out. I booked time off work.
I don't intend to leave my puppies if Jessie ever has a litter, they & my bitch are way too precious to be left unattended
I will never leave any of my bitches either - I have one who will be 8 weeks on Weds so I am frantically getting all the jobs done around the house that need doing - went and did a big shop today so well stocked for a while.
Whelping room will be prepared Weds so all we then have to do is wait......
The puppies initially go into the lounge - where I will also sleep for as long as I feel necessary - often weeks!
I agree - these puppies are far too precious to take chances with.
If for any reason I do have to go out my daughter is on hand to help out and OH will always babysit once they are past just a few days old.
Think I might make use of internet shopping during the next few weeks too.

> but of course men always think they coem first
I was grinning when I read it, and nearly PM'd Barbara, but didn't have the nerve. Whew! Glad I'm not the only person!
im sorry if i took offence... thank you for your concern but both mothers adn all 10 pups are doing great. all have opened eyes now and are starting to wander a little out of the box. i assure you if i thought the way i have done it was harmful to my girls of pups then i would not have even tried...
but all has worked out fine. and mothers are getting back to been best friends, while i am there (20 hours a day )each room is open for the mums to walk freely and only locked when i am out. so they both have there own space and each know not to go too far into each others space, unless its just to pinch food...
