Topic Dog Boards / General / Attack on Staffi Puppy

Hi, I have just come back from my mum's, while I was there I had a flick through the paper and there was this picture and story of a 10 week old Staff puppy that a man had rescued from a group of 4 and 5 year olds who had nearly beaten it to death with sticks, she still may have to have one of her back legs amputated as there is too much nerve damage, her poor little face, makes my heart break to think that "children" of that age have something in them to make them do that sort of thing...   I know there are many evil people in the world but how are people bringing up their children these days.  I could hardly read it all for tears....

That makes me sick!  They are the kindest, gentlest breed I know.

That's horrendous :( :( :(

I don't think any ordinary person could begin to second guess why children would behave like that - it's terrifying.  I know I've read many times that serious serial offenders have often been mutilators and killers of birds and animals as they grew up.  Doesn't bear thinking about when they are in a group doing something so awful and even although very young children they will surely be aware of pain ....  :(

If I were a parent of any of them I'd not only be ashamed I'd be very, VERY worried :(

Poor, sweet, innocent little puppy

Poor baby, breaks my heart to read things like this. :-(

That is horifying :(

I'm struggling to find words to describe how I feel....... A tiny 10 week old puppy.......Those children must be twisted....

A man had to rescue the pup from a gang of 4 & 5 year olds.... what are children that age doing without a parent about?? - perhaps there's the problem - parents who can leave children that age to form gangs must be doing nothing to teach compasion and humanity :(

Poor little puppy, I hope she can get over the emotional trauma that going through somthing like that must cause :(

OMG :D some kids- where are the parents- i too would have taken the pup but would have also called the cops so they can maybe hopefully put a scare into these children so they won't do something like that again- Hope the puppy can over come the trauma he/she was dealt and still see not all people/children are the same...

id be worried too, most mass murderers torture animals when children

4 and 5 year olds???? That age group should be the ones needing protection, not the ones committing the crimes, aargh!!! That's just awful.

there is a similar aged pup on a local rottweiler rescue site that was rescued after someone saw kids using it as a football.  It is so sad...

> someone saw kids using it as a football

that is so sick. what is this world coming to? i just can't imagine kids doing that. i'd guess there is one scary ringleader kid who probably fits the sociopath in the making profile and peer pressure will have done the rest. so so scary and wrong

I read in the paper that this beating of the dog took place in a field...what kind of parents allow kids of this age to go out in groups unsupervised? let alone beating up animals. No wonder the kids dont know how to behave normally, if this is the way they are treated.

totally agree, where is the responsibility?

I've found the article on-line, there's a pic of the little puppy, she's called Meg.

Thank god the man stepped in, that poor little pup would have probably been left to die (if the kids didn't kill her).

aww she's cute. poor little thing, absolutely astonishing that people would do such a thing

Ah shes a sweetie, poor pup. my niece is four and i couldn't imagine anyone's kid of that age doing anything like that!! how cruel :(

Oh my god this is appalling...how anyone could do this to a puppy (or any animal for that matter) is beyond me and whats worse it sickens me that the attack was by young children.Whats the world coming to these days and Whats wrong with the parents of these kids that they cant teach them respect and right from wrong or better still punish them when they have misbehaved so they know the consequences of their actions,(personally I'm a great believer in making the punishment fit the crime, an eye for an eye and all that).Society is a becoming a nanny state that seemingly doesnt care anymore...it makes me sick.
Thank God for the man who came along and saved Meg...I hope she makes a full recovery and finds a loving home.
And if you believe the saying "what goes around comes around" ...lets hope those kids get what they deserve.
