My miniature schnauzer is now coming to the end of her first season (the first spots of blood were noticed 2 weeks and 5 days ago). There hasn't been any bleeding now for over a week and I am desperate to take her over the park or down the beach where she loves. I have been road walking her and we have still encoutered dogs on our walks and to be honest no dogs have sniffed her (!) or been wound up by being near her.
Do you think I can take her out now and let her off??
Advice please
p.s. She's also not sleeping well a night any more and I wonder if it's because she's not being worn out!!??

19 days is just on the short side but not impossible.....is her vulva still enlarged? (It may not go down to how it was pre-season, but has it shrunk?) Were the dogs that you met and ignored her entire males??? They are the only real test! :-D
Try clicker training to tire her brain out or hire an indoor riding school to let her have a hoolie around if you are unsure.....better safe than sorry.
I don't think I would risk letting her off - by all means take her out though :)
If I don't let her off now, then how long before it is safe to do so??
I would suggest another week and then she should be ok, but monitor her behaviour......as has been said - better safe than sorry ;)

I have a bitch here on day 22 and my young male (her son) is desperate to get at her.... and she wants him to!!!
As Deralady said " better safe than sorry" another week wont hurt.
