Hi

Just thought I would post this warning. It has been going through some of the insurance comapnies in the country, I have already recieved it from someone in the prison service as well. So could be quite a valid warning.

Anyone-using Internet mail such as Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL and so on.

This information arrived this morning, Direct from both Microsoft and Norton.
Please send it to everybody you know who has access t o the Internet.

You may receive an apparently harmless e-mail titled   'Mail Server Report'

If you open either file, a message will appear on your screen saying:
'It is too late now, your life is no longer beautiful.'

Subsequently you will LOSE EVERYTHING IN YOUR PC, And the person who
sent it to you will gain access to your name, e-mail and password.

This is a new virus which started to circulate on Saturday afternoon.
AOL has already confirmed the severity, and the anti virus software's
are not capable of destroying it.

The virus has been created by a hacker who calls himself 'life owner'.

PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS E-MAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, And ask them to
PASS IT ON IMMEDIATELY!

THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY SNOPES

Snopes says it's a hoax.

Please can I point out that UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should any person take any notice of this post by morganalfie , DO NOT CLICK THE LINK and that anyone receiving such an email should not under any circumstances forward it to anyone in their address book. Such virus warnings are almost always hoaxes but are also usually carrying a virus themselves. It is a  good way of spreading the virus by getting people to send it to everyone in their address book, and to post links to it on forums...and loads of people fall for it.
Please read the following advice about fake virus reports.

Im not having a go at YOU morganalfie, I know it was a genuine mistake....but you must understand that I had to be very firm  in my post to make sure that no-one else clicked on the link, which could be a malicious link. Im not blaming you for falling for it...after all millions of people fall for these hoaxes. I know that you trusted the sender...that is precisely how these things work. Most people refrain from opening emails from unidentified sources, so it limits the spread of the virus. By getting people to send it to their friends, it makes it easier to spread....people trust YOU, they open your email, and hey presto they pick up a virus or get vulnerable to hackers. These hoaxers rely on people being helpful, by effectively conning them into sending a virus to those they are trying to protect. For damage limitation, I suggest you send  a follow up email to those you sent it to, telling them not to open the email, if its not too late. You could also suggest they do a virus scan to ensure that nothing nasty was sent. With any luck it was just a hoax to make people panic and waste their time.
And next time you wont fall for it!
