I think there is a man who does scanning for dogs not sure if he is a sheep scaner but he lived in wragby i will try and find out his number for you.
may not be able to get back to you until tomorrow.

Great, thanks, I am only 14 miles from Wragby (I think)

Orjack - its Petscan, 01673 858919. West Barkwith - on the A157 just past Wragby on the way to Lincoln. I've used him 3 times and he was spot on apart from being one out with a big litter of ten (which is forgivable!) He will only scan from 30 days after 2nd mating.

Great, thanks!

West Barkwith is even nearer as I am the Louth side. She's 35 days post 2nd mating. What is is usual cost by the way, not that it matters, just out of interest?

I am getting my girl scanned next week as she will be day 30 on Tuesday, does anyone know if there is anywhere near me that does the sheep scanning, I am near Chesterfield in North East Derbyshire, but North Notts is very close too as is South Yorkshire.  I assume these are much more accurate than the normal scanners. Thanks.

When looking for a Lincs one I came accross this: Canine Pregnancy Scanning, LITTLEOVER, Derby, about 25 miles from Chesterfield. 07990547480 8am - 8pm £15 (at the persons home) Mobile 25 within a 10 mile radius plus £1 per extra mile. Out of hrs extra. Hope this helps www.caninepregnancyscanning.co.uk. She/he does quite a few extras as well, check out the web site.

Thanks, :)  I have someone to do the ultrasound scanning though.  I just thought if there was a sheep scanner in the area, it might be a better option if they are more accurate.

You're very welcome. I expect that although they are not specified as sheep scanner, that as he/she is doing it full time, they would be more proficient than a vet who probably only does it occasionally? regards

This post s great.....just what we all want to know...someone should keep a record of all these scanning people !

Anyone know of a really good canine or sheep scanner in North Yorkshire???(small village just on the edge of North and West Yorkshire) Well actually closer to Pontefract, Garforth, Tadcaster, York or Selby areas please...

The lady I am going to is a vet nurse at my local practice, she does it at home in the evenings.  Not sure if the vets do it there, as they referred me to her.   That link is brilliant though and I will keep it in my favourites for future reference.  :)

Hi, my vet, forest house in Bedale scans. It costs £16-£18. It's just off the A1 at Leeming Bar not far south of Scotch corner, so not sure where in north east you live but might be of help. Also think there is one in Darlington but not sure what practice it's at.

I have just got back from having my girl scanned and she saw 4 pups, possibly 5. :)
I have just asked this on another thread but will ask here too, what is sheep scanner describing, the scanner itself, or the person that does them?  The lady that did mine is a vet nurse at our practice but they have a farm with sheep too, she was in the middle of lambing when I got there, she does the scanning in a small outbuilding.

i just got back from having her scanned the vet saw 3 defo probably 4  but she said there could be more i saw 6 sacks with pups in them she said its hard to get a exact number as they move about it was so lovely seing them n their lil heart beats she also gave me panacur liquid wormer to add to her food evry day till 2 days after she has whelped
- By choccy [gb] Date 24.04.08 18:08 UTC
That's great news, bet you are over the moon. They are lovely at that vets don't you think, very reasonable too. Are you going to use them or do you have a good local vet. They said they could see 3 on our scan she had 4 but 1 died, so not too far out. I used the drontal wormer for mine, it'a one off dose so much easier, also used it on pups too with no adverse effects.
