Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Puppy Passed On?

I'm a bit worried in case one of my puppies has been sold/passed on, but wonder if I am just being paranoid?!

Pup would be 6 months old now, and I have been ringing all the new owners to invite them back for a 'puppy party' as we are moving away soon. I haven't been able to contact one couple by phone today or yesterday. That alone wouldnt' worry me, but although they stayed in touch intitally with emails/ a phoen call etc, I haven't had any reply to my last two emails. The first was just to check how pup was getting on, and the second to send them some pictures of their pup's litter mates. That was about a month ago.

I appreciate not everyone likes to stay in touch, but they visited pup often when he was still with me and mentioned frequently that I'd be able to visit as they live close to my grandparents etc. I am worrie din case they have sold pup on without my knowledge, which would be my worst nightmare. I made sure all the new owners knew I would absolutely take any pup back at any time of it's life if they couldn't keep it, and mentioned it in the contracts they signed, although I know it won't be legally binding.

If I ring the KC can they tell me if ownership has been transferred? I know they can't give out details of owners, but that they will pass on a letter to the new owners if there are any. Will they tell me if he has been passed on?

Any transfer of ownership is published in the BRS, so they'd be able to tell you not only if the pup's registration had been transferred, but also the name (but not address) of the new owner.

Thankyou Jeangenie, as you can imagine, I am rather upset about this, all homes wer stringently vetted, but I guess you just never know.

Where will I get a copy of the BRS?

I'm such a worrier! LOL

They have just phoned me back. Puppy is still with them and very much loved and adored. They have a new email address, hence no reply, and we are visiting pup before we move next Tuedsay. :-)

The pups I bred are 18 months old now, all keep in touch by e mail, some every week :-) others every 3 or 4 months, every one is different.  Apart from one couple, they actually got a puppy I got back at 4 months. They e mailed once to say he had settled in, then nothing.  I still sent e mails to them of any news I had, but got no replies.  Then I got a lovely phone call last week, saying how wonderful he was, they thanked me for sending them my news, made me so happy, I felt I could relax about him now.
Hopefully your pup will be fine, maybe they are on holiday.  Puppy Party sounds fun!

Excellent news! You can breathe easy again. :-)

Thanks, I felt so relieved when I spoke to him that I was almost in tears! It sounds like they absolutely adore him! He mentioned how pup wasn't going to be allowed on the sofas (their first dog) but now he gets on at about 9 every night and they haven't the heart to get him off again. Sound familiar anyone? LOL

All the other owners keep in really regular touch, so I guess you're right, everyone's different.

Glad you managed to get in contact and he is still with them and all loved up, I know I will be the same when I eventually breed a litter one day :) lol
