Hi, just decided to join the forum, although I have been lurking for many months. I live in the North West and although I have owned GSD's all my life, due to health problems I decided to get a golden retriever, as sadly I felt they were a little more "socially acceptable" if my 16 year old son was to take her for a walk. We are having great fun showing her and thoroughly enjoy having her around. Anyway just thought I would say hello and hopefully I may be able to contribute a little bit in the future.

Hey there Goldiemad.Welcome to the forum.I used to have GSDs.We are now owned by 4 brilliant Alaskan Malamutes and a JRT.Good luck with the showing. We have been showing for the last 10months and realling enjoying it.I got beaten today by my 14 year old daughter who showed one of my pups while i showed the other. It was only her third show and she went on to get working puppy group 3.Night night.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone and I look forward to being part of the forum. Forum vs housework, lets think, hmm, didn't take long, forums wins.

Cornishmals, I would love to own a mal or sibe. At one time we did consider adding either a sibe or mal to our family, but after researching both breeds took the easy option and stayed with GSD's. I do  have a friend with sibe's though. The dog has every 'difficult' trait that the bred club warns prospective purchases of. The bitch is a tiny bit easier, but has such a strong hunting instinct she could easily be a liability. Fortunately their owner was prepared for the 'worse' so didn't get any unpleasant surprises. It does worry me when I increasingly see sibes in the local parks, running free.
