Have a 12 month toy breed and is is holding one of his back legs up-not all the time just now and again.
His worst time is when he has been at rest then he hops around for a min and all well.  He can run round the garden like mad and all well.

I have had L/Patella in one of these breeds before but I can not feel the knee come out. (I will make an appointment at my vets to make sure though as I am no expert)

However this started on Wednesday-he was out for a walk woth my Lab/R and she has a habit of running full pelt at the Toy Breeds and whether I have not seen her bowl him over I can not say.
I am normally vigilant but I had my head down thinking of something else praying on my mind-so not being on the ball at all.

So one second fine and the next on three legs-oh yes and his leg was hot to the touch at that time-not now though.

Any suggessions.

Patella problems would be my first thought.  Hope it's not.  Fingers crossed that he's just pulled something on his run.

hi my dog had luxating patellas on both knees and i could not feel it either.we took him to the vets and they said they was nothing the matter with him. i then took him back and 2 different vets said it was his right leg and his left was fine only to then find out of the specialist it was both legs. it must be quite hard to detect for 2 vets to say it was only one leg and that was even with xrays. i hope its not luxating patellas after what we have been through.

Spoke to a pal and she said put him in a sit position when he is limping and when he gets up and the leg is fine it may be L/P . Have tried and he is still lame.

This morning he had a bit of a limp for two seconds then all fine.

If it is L/P I will have to deal with it-thank goodness he is insured.  I hope he has not as I do not want the poor little chap to go through any form of operation.

Really fed up with as I seem to have had endless problems-well it feels that way-with my dogs. I daresay we all have our problems.

Thank you all for your imput.

really try to solve this without the op, my dog is only 2 now had the op in oct and still having problems, i am convinced he is worse now than before the op and to watch him next to my year old springer is pitiful. and we did have the op from a specialist who was ment to be the best in the country.
