MY BITCH IS IN WHELP AND IN THE MIDDLE OF GETTING THINGS TOGETHER CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOU OBTAIN THE PUPPY PACKS FROM THAT COME WITH A PUPPY WHEN YOU PUCHASE,OR DO BREEDERS PUT THEM TOGETHER THEMSELVES??/

You put them together yourself. :-)
Some of the food brands such as Arden Grange, Eukanuba provide small puppy packs. However, the majority of information and goods you provide to your puppy buyers is your own work. You probably need to sit down and think what you would have wanted from a breeder (or would have found useful). I provide feeding guide, care and advice on the breed and about the background of the puppy (details of when mum had seasons start etc), copy of contract,a soft toy, brush, comb, tick picker, puppy shampoo, nylabone, soft toy, details of hips and eyes, breed clubs, book on the breed and have thought that this time I might provide the Book of the Bitch. The list could go on and on. I just want my puppies to have all the things that they would have had if they had stayed at home with us. I pick up things in bulk at shows to keep down costs and last time I also included the leaflets days out from the kennel club. I also think it is important to let the new owner have the puppy info guide before they take home the new puppy, once home they are usually too exhausted and busy to do much reading. I think that is why so many new puppy owners don't transfer them into their name. it isn't that they don't choose to, it's more likley that it is forgotten with all things that a new puppy brings.
Good luck with your litter - get all the sleep you can now - mine are 3 weeks old and I'm shattered but loving every minute of it.
thanks im sooooooo excited first litter but (nervous too)
think i will put together myself sounds the best option i just wasnt too sure as a novice......
pups not due till may 25th but counting the days now
i have a rough idea what to put in my packs as been doing so much bedtime reading, but any advice is more than welcome
there was a thread on here about what people put in their puppy packs - I'm sure someone more technically able than me can link it ;)
Hi
How do you know she is definitley in whelp as quite early still - have you had her scanned?
I dont tend to get things organised til around 6-7 weeks and dont bother with puppy packs til pups are born, but if its your first time then it is exciting and preparing is all part of the excitement. It might make her pregnancy seem very long if you've done everything early.
Good luck

I agree, I would hold on a while, she's only been mated less than 3 weeks ago, so still too early to be sure.
I'm sure everything will be fine, but like Lorripop, I don't start preparing my puppy packs until after the litter has been born

once you are registered with a company you can ask them to send you some packs but only when the litter is born. They will ask you d.o.b how many was in the litter, breed atc.
Well, things will get busy soon so maybe getting registered with a food company now may be a good idea? One less thing to think of later :) You will probably need an affix to register with some companies, what food do you feed? Have you decided what you will be feeding the puppies, and contacting that company see what they offer to breeders? if you don't want to go down that route then you can easily buy small bags of the food to give out, remembering to give the food companies booklet with each puppy so the owners can see the range of food types in that group for when the puppy gets older. Wait till the pups are born and safely on their way though, not to tempt fate.
I have a bitch who has just had 2 pups. One has gone to his new home and one is about to go. I have given them lots of information about how to feed the pups, when they were wormed and need worming again and also flea treatment they have had. I have put as much information as I can about toilet training and the fact that puppies sleep a lot and need to be left to sleep if they are tired. They will go with a supply of food, a smelly blanket for comfort, a toy, a snood (they are Spaniels and their ears dip into their food!) and, of course, my phone number and email should they need to contact me. I have a printout from the breed club itself about having a new pup too that I gave the new owners-to-be weeks ago. I have tried to cover every eventuality so that my pups and owners have the best start together possible. Its hard letting your babies go, but Im confident that I have found them lovely homes.
