Topic Dog Boards / Health / Quick Question - help please

Hi

Our 10 week old Golden has today strated dragging his bottom across the floor. I have seen other dogs do this but can anyone tell me why? Hope there is some 'normal' explanation but can someone set my mind at rest.

Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanx

Usually a sign of blocked anal glands or could be worms?  Could just be an itchy bum!!  What a delightful subject!!  Worth a trip to the vets to get checked out anyway.

I might be wrong but would have thought 10 weeks is too young for blocked anal glands

That's why I suggested a trip to the vets to get checked out.  I would also have thought that the breeder would have worming up to date.  Best to be safe and get a check up.

worming is up to date and he has had 2 massive Poos tonight so could just have been a build up... what a great topic hey :-). We are going to see the vet tomorrow anyway so will get him looked at then.
Thanks for the advice

Lovely subject but mine does it sometimes when she hasn't made a clean evacuation!!  Usually because she has grass or hair in it.  She just loves the carpet to do it.  Usually get the toilet paper and give her a gentle hand!

:-) We have realised that he is doing it when he gets excited (along with doing a wee on the floor) so maybe thats all it is? will check with the vets tonight. Seems ok otherwise.
Thanks for all the advice
