and how am i to cope without the forum for a week?!?!
- By Gemini05 Date 08.04.08 17:30 UTC
Oh dear, sorry to hear you have to go in to hospital x
Just think of all the catching up you will have to do after a week without CHAMPDOGS forum!! :)
You will have to take another week off to catch up!!! :) :)
((((hugs))))

Oh dear!  :-( I'm sure you will beat the withdrawl. :-D

Wishing you all the best, at least it is only a week and you will be able to catch up with everyone when you come back.

All the best, and get plenty of rest.

See you back in a week. :-)

thanks all. the hospital has part of the uni library attached so might see if i can sneak out and get my fix lol. really annoyed about it though, my dissertations due in two weeks! they've faffed me about for months and now its suddenly urgent that i be admitted (i feel ok btw, certainly not the worst i've been!). not feeling keen on the medical profession right now.

What appaling timing on the hospitals behalf! Have you consulted your dissertation tutor?  I know a few friends of mine had trouble in our final year with illnessses & bereavements etc & they were given special consideration & allowed extra time to complete the project. Might help ease the stress a bit!

hello all, sorry i'm doing one reply but so many of you have said nice things it would take to long lol

so obviously i have escaped the ward- since i'm up and active they let me wander and as the uni has part of its campus here i have internet, wooo hoo!!!!

anyway, situation is that i am here till at least wednesday getting really strong steroids to try and calm it down. the problem is i was on pill steroids before and they made it worse! as such my consultant is worried that rather than just inflamation in my intestine i might have scar tissue which can't be treated medically so i might end up having it done surgically, eek. i am quite over weight so a little concerned about anaesthesia etc but its a good hosp and my mum works in anaesthetics so sure she'll try and make sure i've the bestest nurses etc lol. i'll let you all know how its going when i can get along here.

as for uni my sis (who works at my uni) has been in touch with my lecturer who has sent me the form for a 2 week extension. however i have my lap top with me so working away (i'm no more ill than usual you see). wrote 1500 words today- everything is pretty much done, just needs polishing so should get it in. i'm more concerned about my exams. if i get surgery soon i will miss them and have to do them in august so won't graduate till november :(

Its good that you are getting a two week extension on your papers.  About missing exams, I know it would be a bad thing, to have to wait to do them in August, and not graduate till November.  But, hun, your health at this point is more important than a couple months wait to graduate.

I was in school, during the summer, and had to have emergency surgery.  Summer school is only 4 weeks in length, and I was to be hospitalized for 5 days post op.  They had this rule, that if you missed 3 days of class, you couldnt pass the course.  I was devistated.  Talked to the principle (this was a highschool summer course - Grade 11 Advanced Chemistry)  and explained my situation.  Well, I came back after the surgery, and was in so much pain!  But I was trying to stick it out.  The principle saw me in the hall, and told me to call Operation Lift (kinda like a bus for people in wheelchairs) and go home.  That she would worry about how to get me to pass the course.  I got all the work, and did it from home.  Ended up getting a 75% in Chem.  When I missed a total of 2 weeks out of 4!

Anyways, things arent always set in stone, so take care of your health first hun, cos without that, you got nothing.

Take Care

MinPinly Yours
