Hi,
Have any of you had bad experiences with your ins. comp. We had a claim for water damage 2005 it is still going on. They have ripped my bathroom out and shower base so many times through bad workmenship the bathroom suite is recked. The water has now come through the kitchen ceiling and that has fallen in, they have just kept cogging it up. Now the joists under the bathroom floor plus all the exteria wall is soaked. We can now see that they have cut so much out of the joists to refit the shower outlet there is less than an inch holding it into the exteria wall. They have been and removed  most of the bathroom suite, 5 weeks ago and have not been back, all plaster has been removed off the walls in the bathroom and toilet, down to the bare bricks. The contracters from the ins. company said the damage caused by the workmen is worse than they thought, and it is not on there work sheet to fix it all. We can't get anyone to take responsibilty, for all the damage they have caused. It is a night mare. Any idea's
Regards

Did your insurance company recommend the workmen that originally came? How many companies/workmen have you used?

If your insurance company did not send in the original workmen it will not cover the damage they have done, you will have to go back and take the workmen to court for damages that the insurance company contracters will need to list for you. :-)

Most insurance companies IME are slippery devils if they can pass the buck they will.

Hi Carrington,
Yes! they did, they pass the work down to multi assistance, then they give it to a company, then the company send out contracters.
I have had in a quote myself that was £1000.00 to put the damage right, what they can see.
The contracters, last time shown me there work sheet, it was just to cog the job again. I told them if they did, I would hold them personally responsible for the work, they left it and refused to do it! You are right, talk about passing the book!

Well denese all the balls are in your court then. :-)

Ring your insurance company ask to speak to someone from a supervisor upwards don't even bother talking to the person who answers the phone they will do nothing but quote from the book infront of them, explain how they have recommended the workmen via their company of contracters so it is down to them to put everything right.

None of it is your fault in choosing the wrong people to do the work, they have to put it right. Ring them daily or even more until they conceed to do the work.

If there are still problems seek out a solicitor, what a disgrace, I don't know how they have even tried to pass the buck in this case. :-(

Good Luck!
