Yes thats the ones, they are great and not expensive so if the new owners dont use the clicker its not a massive waste.
I bought a bulk pack of blankets think it was something like 6 for £4.

I have all my pups tattooed so they are permanently linked to me.  If a tattooed dog is found and owner can't be contacted they will always contact the breeder.

I encourage new owners to get their pups chipped also.

Copy of 'The Perfect Puppy' by Gwen Bailey
'Book Of The Bitch' for bitch owners
cyber puppy dental toy
couple of soft toys

small rawhide chew
Bone of the type I use
2 small bags of treats suitable for younger puppies.
3KG of food (Iams at the time, but don't use that now)
2 pouches of james Wellbeloved wet complete puppy food
1 bottle of Savoury sauce
Pack of Poo bags
disc with photos of Mum, dad and litter on it.

Folder of info including:
Feeding information
'Helping your puppy to settle in' page
Worming certificate
Frontlining info
poisonous plants list
poisonous foods list
a copy of 'the bite stops here'
sheet on children and puppies living together
Sheet on how to groom their dog, including ear cleaning etc
Photocopies of parents hips/eye/elbow scoes
List of useful contacts like local Canine clubs, breeds clubs, puppy classes etc.

I don't put in blankets/collars/leads etc as I think people might like to chose these themselves. I do ask them to bring a blanket and hot water bottle cover too, plus a furry toy if they like, to leave with the litter and then take home with their pup.

Out of interest, to those that tatoo....how do you get the pups tatoo? Does someone come out, or do you have to go there? I have read (somewhere...) that tatoo's fade, is this true? What is the cost of tatoo, is it better value than a chip?
- By SandyP Date 05.04.08 08:05 UTC
In mine I put:-
kc paperwork
five generation pedigree
Microchip paperwork
Photos from day one of puppies life
bag of food
blanket with the scent of mother & other litter mates
Book  about the breed (although I usually give this to the new owner in advance)
information sheets (feeding ,training etc)
toy

To get puppies tattooed check on the NDTR site for your nearest tattooist & then you can arrange for the tattooist & assistant to come to you to do the puppies anytime from 6 weeks to 9 weeks-depending on the size of the puppies ears.

The cost is £7 per puppy & £20 to register the litter, however if you send in all the transfer of ownership forms with £13(not the full amount of £20 to transfer a dog) & advise the NDTR of the number(s)of any puppy(ies)you keep you will get the £20 back. You charge the new owners £20 for the transfer(most people factor this into the cost of the puppy)& obviously if you only have to send in £13 then you have recouped the cost of tattooing the puppies. So if you keep one puppy it coasts you £7 & if you keep none then it costs you nothing. The microchip companies do not offer this, you pay for every chip & extra if the new owners want to upgrade to Premium

I know there are people on here you say ALL their tattoos have faded, however I have been tattooing since 1990 & have yet to have one I have done fade, the tattoo es have been much better since we transferred from green to black ink & the small calipers.

I first tattooed my rescue X breed in 1990(part of the training & done with large calipers & green ink & 11 1/2 years later when she died it was still quite clearly visible. I've had German GSD imports(all tattooed)& none of their tattoos faded.

On ObedienceUK if you click on the Midland Border Collie Club Photo link & scroll down, you will see a GSD with a clearly visible tattoo(unfortunately the photographer has cropped the top of the dogs ears in the photo

I've got some photos on my website of me chipping & "pinning"(as my cockney friend calls tattooing)Wukee's litter I'll put a link onto my profile

The tattooist comes to you if you have a litter.

In my experience good tattoos do not fade.  I can still easily read each of my dogs tattoos (bearing in mind my sight is poor) and the oldest will be 11 this year.  All done with the small callipers in black.  My old girls one was done as an adult using the old callipers in green, and could be read until her death, and her daughter was done with large callipers as a baby and because of the way the tattoo spread took some guessing to read.  for this reason my next litter (the nearly 11 year olds) were done by a tattooist from a different are who I payed to come as she used the small callipers (a friend in my breed used her).  Now fortunately I think theyn all use the small calipers so that when the tattoo grows it doesn't distort.

I did have one litter tattooed when my tattooist moved by a different persona nd the results were poor.  I now realise that she didn't shave the inside of the pups ears, and my usual tattooist always does even if the ear appears hair free.

I believe this person no longer tattoos for the registry and the registry did offer to have the bad tattoos re-done in the other ear.

Personally I like the fact that the Tattoo registry is run by dog people who understand the breeder viewpoint and will always contact the breeder if the owner cannot be contacted, as your details are kept on file.

Also even with a faded or partially readable tattoo they can extrapolate who the dog might be by process of elimination.  If a chip fails that's it.

I also like the fact a tattoo is a visible deterrent, and no equipment is needed to see one, though very hairy ears may need to be clipped out or some surgical spirit rubbed on to make the tat clearer.

Chips can be missed, even when you know they have one it can sometimes take a while to find it, because the readers batteries are low etc.  If a dog is just being checked for the presence of a chip in such circumstances it could easily be missed.

Any dog taken to a rescue centre should be examined by a vet and part of a normal health exam would be teeth eyes and ears so a tattoo should be picked up.

Both systems can fail due to human error, which is why I like to have both.

You can contact the NDTR here: http://www.dog-register.co.uk/

You can see tattoos in the ears of my dogs in photos on my site, and even read some of them.

I firstly give a folder which includes,
Pictures of the puppy from a day old up to when he/she leaves and pictures of the parents and grandparents,
Info on feeding, vaccinations, toilet/crate training, worming, microchips, etc.
KC registration.
Pedigree.
Heart/Eye Certificates for the parents and the puppies Eye screening cert.
Microchip paperwork ( I have mine done before they leave)
Vaccination Certificate.
Six weeks insurance and a contract.

They then take with them.
A piece of vet bed which has been in with mum and siblings
Toys, normally a ball, squeaky toy, rope tug and a puppy Kong.
Chews.
Collar and lead.
Food to last for a week or so and leaflets on it.

And thats about it.
Debbie

Thanks both! :)
- By zarah Date 05.04.08 18:59 UTC
I think yours sounds great jackson! :-D I would have been thrilled to have received any of these packs. All I got with my Dobe were the KC papers and generation pedigree, and a diet sheet! I took pics of the rest of the puppies myself and the breeder took some pics of mum and grandma in the garden for me. What a swizz though! :-P
- By sincypoos [gb] Date 05.04.08 19:11 UTC
Reading all those puppy packs you give out is great . All we recieved was a carrier bag with three days food the dog is not chipped no injections and a diet sheet saying feed the puppy three tims a day . i have a black lab (8 weeks old) we have had him for three days he seems to have settled in fine but does have runny stools any advice would be great as we are very new to this thank you .
- By Brainless [gb] Date 05.04.08 19:46 UTC
At 8 weeks he should be eating four meals a day.  Over feeding can make a pup loose (perhaps he is eating too much in one go), also the stress of all the changed, worming and change in water can also cause looseness.  If he has really loose stools and seems at all unwell then consult your vet, as pups can dehydrate quickly.
- By killickchick Date 05.04.08 20:58 UTC Edited 05.04.08 21:00 UTC
I didn't get a thing...not a bean ! not a sausage ! :( ... apart from the KC transfer papers and pedigree.

Couldn't take pics of litter as he was the last one, and I didn't even think to take one of his mum (stupid me !!!)
- By killickchick Date 05.04.08 21:02 UTC Edited 05.04.08 21:05 UTC
Hi, sincypoos, answered on your other thread, hope it helped a bit :)
EDIT sorry, i answered you  on msdaisy thread, bloody discharge.....
- By dexter [gb] Date 05.04.08 21:20 UTC
Your puppy packs sound really good and helpful :) didn't get nothing with my girl, not even a diet sheet! and we had to chase her up for KC papers :(
- By SandyP Date 06.04.08 06:31 UTC
forgot to add the following:-
their copy of the puppy contract
Worming Certificate (dates of worming & wormer used)

six weeks insurence certificate
immunisation card

that is it I think!!
- By pugnut [gb] Date 06.04.08 13:28 UTC
I put in,

2kg bag of James Wellbeloved
One pack of puppy Naturediet
Big info pack containing in-depth sections on feeding, training, house-training, grooming and care, socialising, crate use and loads more.
Copy of the pedigree
A 'raggy', a piece of clean polar fleece cut into a 3inch wide strip and tied in the middle. Smells familiar and its what they were used to.
A bell (to go on their collar, a nice 'early warning system' of an impending puppy!!)
As well as the usual innoculations/vet check/worming/registration/contract etc.

I would put in things like bowls/collars etc but I think the new owners like to do the whole puppy shopping thing themselves (you know what its like yourself! :-))
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 16.05.08 15:22 UTC
I agree with you MM about the tatoo's, I had a GSD she was tattoed and hers never faded, just the hairy ears disguised it, but it was easy to read through the hair!!
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 17.05.08 05:49 UTC
I gave some food, cuddly toys they'd been using, puppy collar & lead, vaccination record, reams of 'how to look after a puppy' information, KC papers, pedigree, contract of sale, health certificates of the parents, photos of the litter as they grew up and the parents, erm not sure if there was anything else!
