I have learned that Daisy's mum is having her 3rd and final litter at the end of this month - and I am tempted to get one from this litter, as Daisy has the best temperament in any dog I have owned and was easily trained. She's not perfect - but neither am I!! She gets on with everything - human or canine

Daisy is spayed and I own Leo who is an entire male - he's not been castrated as he has no interest in sex! - and I was wondering if a male or female would be best to add to them. My preference would be a female, who would be spayed.

Daiy is 5, Leo 4 if that helps.

If you want a third dog then I would go for it. It all sounds ideal. My choice would be for another female so long as you could guarentee no accidents until she was mature enough to be spayed.

Whatever you decide - go for it!  Nobody should be content with 2 dogs!  Big Grin!

Go for what you feel would fit best with your two- Me I prefer males but I have 2 of each and 1 still intact (boston's)

Ditto, female. :-)

Female as the breed are known for often not liking other males, so to avoid that small risk I would go for a bitch, especially as your existing bitch is so easy going.

I would not have the bitch spayed until mature, which might be a season or two, so if separating the dogs will be a problem I would get the mature male castrated now.

female! as brainless said mals are often supposed to not like other boys, and your girls going to be much older than the pup so you shouldn't have to much trouble there. let us see pics if you decide to go ahead!

Does the OP not have Miniature Schnauzers??

With regards to male or female - you know your dogs best and what they would accept :) Good luck if you do decide to get another!
