Does anyone buy clothes from Tesco, and if so, do you find they're a generous fit?

I don't usually get clothes from there but I'm on a diet and all my normal clothes are too big, but I'm not at target so wanted some to tide me over.

I bought a couple of pairs of trousers that were a size smaller than I expected to need, is it because their clothes are bigger or am I just doing better than I thought?

It's not you, I find that as well - and it varies in other stores too.

For example - in Tesco I can sometimes buy a size 12 in jeans, whereas in Matalan I'm a 14/16 and in New Look it's a 16 at least because they are made for tiny people!

The trousers I have on now are Matalan, green cargo pants, they are a 14 and keep falling down.

Having said that, I bought a different pair of cargos in M the other week in a 14 - and it's like having my bum in a vice, they are very, er, 'snug' :-P lol!

Tesco are rather generous in their sizes... I bought 3 pairs of bog standard black cords just before Christmas.. size 10.. I had to take them all back and change for a size 8... I do find the waist is still slightly too large so need a belt..I cant go down to a size 6 as although I have a small waist.. .. I have hips (ggrrr)

however.. I just bought a couple of blouses from Tesco..again size 10 and they are a perfect fit...

Damn, thought I was doing really well then!

I'll stick to Dorothy Perkins for normal clothes then, they're generous too so I can carry on in denial! LOL

yes they are rather generous - I have a few pairs of size 6!!!! And there's no way I'm a size 6.....but it does make you feel good, so maybe it's a clever ploy to get us all to buy our clothes there ;) mind you I do like them, and the trousers are great for slobbing around with the dogs ;)

but I would still say that you are doing really well on your diet, as they still need to be within the UK standard sizes, so well done you!!

I find the opposite  I have trousers in size 16 from there yet rest of my wardrope is 12/14!!!!

Must just depend on the style of clothes from there as I did buy a pair of jeans, size 16 from tesco and they are way too huge! (Needed them as stoped over somewhere last min, found a tesco and brought clothes for te next day! :D

Find Sainsburys arent good with size either. My mums a 12/14 yet she bought a top frm Sains that was a size 8!!!!She is nowhere near a size 8. She did say she was going to wear it inside out so everyone could see the size 8 label!!!

right off goes Lesley who is a size 18/20 to find something to wear in one of these shops that says 14 and she will be happy forever!

I find Tesco's stuff varies, the Cherokee range tends to be smaller than the regular and tops smaller than bottoms overall.  Next's bottoms are very roomy but again their tops are small on me - I must have broad shoulder from hauling in huskies when they try and drag me down the road - lol.

I am convinced I am getting fatter but I do not seem to have gone up a size - best not get on the scales.

I've got a size 14 suit and it looks gorgeous on but is a tightish fit in the jacket, although there are two rather large items making it tighter!!!  The trousers are just right.  I got another pair of size 14 trousers a few months ago and they are massive!

I tried on some trousers in M&S today and they were smaller than the ones from Tesco. I could get them on but they weren't comfortable, next size up was too big so I'm guess I'm currently between sizes!

It's about bloomin time there was some regulation with sizes isn't there? I HATE trying stuff on, nothing like seeing yourself from all angles in a full length mirror to make you want to cry!
