Not really sure if this is a breeding question or not?

My whippet girl was in season a while ago and  she was not mated. This last week while out on walks other dogs have been very interested in her, sniffing and trying to mount her. These are dogs we normally meet and pay no attention to her in that way.

I have counted back and it would be this week if mated the pups would be due.  Is she giving off a sent of somesort. I have been keeping a close eye on her for any discharge thinking of a pyro but nothing. She is bright and her useuall self so no worries there.

Any suggestions

I would have her checked out in case there is an infection (Pyometra or urine), as often when males show an interest in bitches and dogs that are obviously not in season it is because there is some sort of infection.

Sometimes, too, the boys are interested at this time if she is going to have a phantom.

Hi

Took wee girl to the vet today as she really isnt well. I was worried in case it was a pyro as it came on so quick but luckly not she has a enteritis(sp) bug.

She doesnt have a temp so no infection.

The vet said it is rare for a bitch to get pyrometras at her age. She will be 2 in May. Dogs are not attracted to a bitch with pyro and diareah(sp) is not a symptom but a discharge is.

She has medicine and has to be starved for 24hrs. She has lost so much weight since last night and looking really sorry for herself. Not that she had any weight to lose in the first place

At least I know it is nothing serious and just a bug that she should get over soon.
