Elbow dysplasia is common in some breeds and I would think so in dogs of your breeds size.  Hope that something can be done to alleviate the symptoms!

Sorry have not had a dog with this so I can't really help.

Have you spoken to the breeder?  Just that you say you've only found out today about this and you are already naming the breeder on this website.  Have you spoken to your breed club etc?

This is the first of many problems..bad hips,IBD and skin problems...not bad for a 3 year old eh..poor dog. Tbh don't think speaking to breeder will achieve anything.

I tried to take a look on their website, but to no avail, sorry about your poor dog it isnt good and at that age. All that you mentioned are common ailments in the breed, you have been very unfortunate. I guess medication is the only answer, i dont think speaking to the breeder will help either. Nothing can be done, apart from buying from tested parents next time.

All the best to you and your hound

Do they test?  I don't know but as LouiseDDb states these are all problems known to the breed, which fortunately is not hidden and why all people should ensure that parents are health tested.  Even then of course we cannot always ensure that pups will be as healthy as their parents as so many other factors can be there.

I note from other websites that they gave up breeding over 2 years ago.  Doesn't mention the reason why.  I can't get onto their old website.

Well yes they gave up breeding and sold all their dogues..adults and youngsters..begs the question why. Fair enough if they didn't want to breed anymore but just seems like they were discarded to me...maybe wrong but from what I have heard I am not so sure.. : (

How are things with your Dogue? Are you any way nearer to knowing the options available?

i am sorry to hear of the problems you have had with your bitch, regarding elbow dysplasia ,as long as she is insured their are plenty of options ,surgery etc but you have to be referred to a specialist,i had a rottie the same and he lived a good life till he was nearly 9 years old.Only on medication the last year of his life ,it depends what is causing the most pain ,my boy had the ocd operated on then swimming regular and he was fine .
best of luck
