Hi didnt know where to put this post.  My bitch had her 3rd and final litter 3 weeks ago tomorrow.  Now I am getting her spayed and the vets have said it is fine to have her spayed in June.  From your experience is this OK?  Does she need another season so I know she is fuctioning OK (i hope that bit makes sence) or it is OK to get her spayed after this litter.  Thought I would ask as I know vets are so keen to spay puppies and I know what my thoughts are on that.

Anyone?  Thanks in advance.

I have had my girls spayed 12 weeks after they had their last litters, which would be some 21 weeks from their last season.  Any later and they may be too close to coming in season again.

I prefer not to wait another season as mien is a double coated breed that looses every stitch of coat after pups and won't be in full coat until pups are about 6 months, and when you spay them they often have another heavy moult about 8 weeks later, so would have to wait another few months for them to be showable.

When spayed at 12 weeks after the pups they only have the one moult, and then after that moult as usual.

I have my girls spayed when the pups are 12 weeks old.

Me I'd wait till all the pups have gone and  let the bitch get completely fit from having the pups. Then let your vets see her, then work out a suitable date fo spaying then.
