Where do you buy yours too?

I feed dried tripe sticks as treats but would like to introduce fresh tripe into their diet.  I'm having problems finding a butcher that supplies green tripe.  Any ideas.

Prize Choice. They even put it in my freezer if I'm not in and ask them to!! Can't recommend the customer service enough and my dogs all look well on it.

I use them as well, excellent customer services, delivery people very friendly and the prices are good too, i do a bulk buy once a month

If you don't want to bulk, Pets at Home sell frozen Tripe,Forthglade sell mail order or you can contact them to find out which pet shops near you stock it.Butchers tend to only sell the white tripe for human consumption-don't fancy it myself!

Berriewoods deliver any amount, if its under a certain amount you have to pay postage but it isnt much.

Thanks Guys.  I'll have a look a bit later.

Green tripe is classed as a waste product and not fit for human consumption, I don't think it's possible to find it in a butchers shop. There are strict rules regarding where it is sold to prevent it entering the human food chain. ummmm, sounds yummy doesn't it!!!!!

I get tripe from my local pet shop.

Landywoods is another tripe supplier, they also sell other natural foods. They deliver, but have a minimum order value.

You won't find green tripe at a butchers,a nd I doubt you will these days even find the washed bleached stuff there anymore as few people eat it now.

It is either an abattoir or a pet meat supplier.

Thought that was the case, but wasn't 100% sure.

I tried getting 'normal' tripe from my local butchers (for the dogs not me :) ), when the pet shop had run out, but they only get it in to order.

My dad remembers tripe being a staple food, boiled in milk was his mums favorite way of serving it. I really wouln'd fancy it.

paula how much food actually is in an average £50 order if you buy the meat packets (i'm wondering if i need to buy a chest freezer...) and as you've a similar sized beast to mine how long does it last (it'll be for just one boy)- just wanting to work out money in advance...

Astarte

I share an order from Landywoods with another person and we each have around £30 of frozen raw meat, tripe, etc delivered . My order fills a whole chest freezer - ( a smallish one with a capacity of a hundred litres) and two drawers in another freezer. That is around 172lbs of meat and I feed a GR and a terrier on this. I usually buy between £20 -£30 per month and then miss a month every 3rd or 4th month as still have enough to see us through.

I would not have the room to store the amount for a minimum order so sharing an order is great. I found someone who lives about 6 miles away from me by asking on a raw feeding site for anyone wanting to share.

Hope that gives you a rough idea of storage space needed and amounts used.

Sorry - I made a mistake with the amount of food. It should have said about 127lb not 172lb - muddled my typing fingers  :)
