Our yellow labrador has a weepy eye. We think that it is conjunctivitus. Are there any remedies apart from the vets?, we have been bathing it with warm water. thank you

Eyes are too precious to be take a chance with. Get the vet to check them out (there might be a foreign body or a scratch on the cornea, for example) and if necessary prescribe something to treat the real problem, not just what you think it is.

I totally agree with the advice Jeangenie gave, get the vet to have a look.

Once the vet has diagnosed the problem,if they continue to run.I've found cold tea  good for drying them up.Leave 2 teabags soaking in boiling water until the water is cold.Squeeze cold tea drops into the eye.every morning is enough.I use the same treatment on my eyes, also stops puffiness.

Weeping eyes can generally be from an allergy, conjunctivitus or other type of infection. I would definitely take advice from a vet. Normally the vet will put a few drops of iodine into the eye and then check the eye with a special apparatus in a darkened room to ensure that there are no scrapes etc. Apparently this type of equipment can see to the back of the eye too.

I have read previously that sometimes eyes will weep if they have a build up of toxins in the system and they are being given more food than the body requires. It is sometimes the bodies way of eliminating excess.

Let us know how he gets on.
