As an antidote to all the depression of rising prices etc.  was wondering what are your guilty pleasures??

Mine is ..... Sushi   I love it, but the family can't stand it, so every so often I get a little box of Sushi, put it on a Japanese style plate with pickled ginger and soy and ... enjoy :) :) preferably when everyone's out or they'll all say things like "EW how can you eat that - it's raw fish!!"

Sometimes I go really wild and make it myself - if I can get the right ingredients :-D   Trying to think of an excuse to go to the 'Big Smoke' so I can try different kinds at a Sushi Bar :-D

Bacon!  Found an organic farm shop a couple of weeks back, and the bacon - grown, slaughtered and sold all on-site - is to DIE for.  Fantastic!

But of course, with the joy of those rising prices it is about to become a very rare pleasure indeed.  Not least because it's a 15 minute drive away!
- By Dill [gb] Date 15.03.08 15:38 UTC
Oh! to find good Bacon, that doesn't spit water everywhere and shrink to nothing when cooked leaving a salty crust in the pan - sigh!
- By Astarte Date 15.03.08 17:00 UTC
recent addition- Green and Blacks Organic White Chocolate. i suffer from chronic migraine and chocolate and cheese are my triggers- not had either in approx 5 years. however white choc is ok. but, fussy me, i've never really likes bars of it- till now! a friend bought me a bar as part of my bday prezzy, oh my god its so good! creamy but not sickly and its got real vanilla in it. yum yum yum...
- By ali-t [gb] Date 15.03.08 18:20 UTC
the green and blacks ice cream is amazing too.
- By ClaireyS Date 15.03.08 18:47 UTC
Dill im with you on the sushi, I often pop into Tescos at lunchtime for some although I quite like the veggie sushi you get there. You cant beat London's sushi bars though - the soft shelled crab is amazing !!  We have all the stuff to make it at home, just havent got round to doing it yet.

I would say my indulgence is a 45 minute drive to the beach with the boys, they love the beach (as do I)  but with rising prices of petrol etc its become a rare treat that they get to go.
- By Astarte Date 16.03.08 12:35 UTC
they do ice cream? ohhh...theres a notion...
- By Crespin Date 16.03.08 12:47 UTC
Potato Chips and Dip, Passion Flakies, Margaritas, Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Oh goodness, the amount of guilty fat I am consuming........oh my.

Good guilty pleasures?  Triple B Treatments.  Love them!!  BTW they are: Bath Book Bag of Chocolates all at the same time.  Laying in the bath - perferably with bubbles, reading a good book and taking a piece of chocolate and letting it melt in my mouth. No chewing allowed!  Such a wonderful treat.

Hi Crespin. What are passion flakies????
- By Crespin Date 16.03.08 19:24 UTC
Passion Flakies are a pastry, that is all bubblie (like air bubbles, in between the pastry, so good! Makes the pastry flakie instead of solid) with Apple Cranberry filling, and whip cream.  LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

You can also get them with just apple filling, or chocolate, or grape.  But all have the whip cream.  My fave is the Apple Cranberry though!

This thread really does go to show how old we all are!!!! Many years agothe word passion, would of meant a completely different and less fattening kind of appetite!!!?
- By Crespin Date 16.03.08 19:53 UTC
still does lol, they just think this passion food, is better than the passion you get elsewhere?  LMAO
- By Astarte Date 16.03.08 20:09 UTC

> they just think this passion food, is better than the passion you get elsewhere

lol, they'd need to get out more then ;) but we're not talking about that kind of guilty pleasure!
- By Hamster [gb] Date 16.03.08 20:21 UTC
I don't think we get passion flakes in the UK--not seen them anyway!
Must admit that my guilty passion is crisps, especially some variation on cheese and onionish eg sour cream and chives.
More of a savoury than sweet person really, though I must say I did buy a green and blacks white chocolate bar today after reading one of the previous posts! (but I've only eaten a bit of it so far!!!!) And I do like an occasional packet of maltesers
- By Astarte Date 16.03.08 20:41 UTC
yay i've started a trend :D their lovely aren't they?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 16.03.08 21:03 UTC

>a completely different and less fattening kind of appetite!!!?

Less fattening? Only after 9 months have passed! ;-) :-D
- By LoisLane Date 17.03.08 09:09 UTC
I have to make do with vegan chocolate, as i can't have milk, the one from sainsburys is rather good. :-)
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 17.03.08 09:49 UTC
The list of my guilty pleasures is endless:
Chinese takeaway(especially crispy duck), Chocolate: A yorkie bar dipped in a cup of tea after a hard days work,a kinder egg, aero(again dunked in tea), toffee crisp & of course - chocolate digestives,  Now for non food pleasures - coming home from work putting on my Pyjamas ordering takeaway and laying in bed with the dog watching tele followed by an early night, pampering myself for 4 hours before a night out (drives my friends wild-they can all get ready in 20mins) and going really really fast on the motorbike.
What would life be without our little pleasures now and again? :-)
- By Dill [gb] Date 17.03.08 11:44 UTC
LoisLane,

There's no milk in Green and Blacks dark chocolate either (it's on the labels) ;)  the Maya Gold is fab :-D

> Less fattening? Only after 9 months have passed! ;-) :-D

Snort!

Edit: Have to add - Ainsley Harriott's chocolate heaven bars. Yum!  Haven't had any in about 2 years (at least), but just spotted them in a bargain shop :-P
- By georgepig [gb] Date 17.03.08 16:33 UTC
Yep the 70% cocoa one is totally vegan!!!

But I just love dark choccie of any kind.  Aldi's own dark stuff (85%) is great and really good value i.e. cheap :-D

And homemade pizza - love it!!!

Hi Dill..

WOW, I never knew that, i miss chocolate so much!! Sainsbury's choc is lovely but the bar is tiny, only six squares and it's 85p per bar and i have around two aday, i also buy chocolate soya milk everyday that's £1.50, this non dairy lark is a dear DO!! lol :-)
- By georgepig [gb] Date 18.03.08 11:20 UTC
Most 70% choccie has no dairy in it whatsoever!!!

EmilyRose - going to try that out soon!!!  Can't wait.

More trips to the gym will soon be in order though to keep the balance.

- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 18.03.08 12:08 UTC

>Its been years since i had a good sausage!!!!!

The best sausages ever are made by Supreme Sausages. Really meaty and flavoursome, not full of fillers and fat.
- By Fluffydog [gb] Date 18.03.08 12:16 UTC
Will try them straightaway and let you know.  Must admit that i have never heard of them.  Thanks Jeangenie
- By Nikita [gb] Date 18.03.08 12:24 UTC

- By Fluffydog [gb] Date 19.03.08 09:35 UTC

- By huskypup [us] Date 19.03.08 12:01 UTC
Titter titter... sausages... hee hee.  Ahem, now to raise the tone a little, my guilty pleasures are a Z-list celeb mags, just once every couple of months I have a binge and buy a few, Green & Blacks ginger or mint choc, Bendicts Bitter Mints and Benny & Gerry's ice cream to eat.  On TV I have to watch America's Next Top Model (not especially fond of the UK version) and Antiques Road Show.  Music-wise my guilty pleasure is Time Flies, Vaya Con Dios which I play full blast and howl along to like a banshee, the dogs love it too!  I think that's about it :D
- By Fluffydog [gb] Date 19.03.08 15:52 UTC
I love America's next top model too (again not the british or australian version), also so you think you can dance, some of them are amazing, Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares and Supernatural.
