Now....on Virgin 1

I watched it too!

It made me so angry I was shouting at the TV (i'm sure my oh thought i had gone mad!), I was really pleased to see that the "killer" poodles (how ridiculous was that!) were free and that the lady in Belfast got her dogs back. I am not sure how I felt about the other dog as he had already attacked another dog.

Who would be responsible if when people got their dogs back from these kennels after months/years and they attacked due to the bad treatment they had recieved in there?!!

14 years on death row for the boxer x only to die in custody....admittedly we don't know the story but if he/she was so bad, why wasn't he PTS?

A waste of a life and what kind of life must it have been?!!

Shocking absolutly shocking, 14 years people get less than that for murder !!! poor boxer.
I am glad to see that the lady in Ireland got her dogs back and the poodle people, felt really sorry for the guy in Liverpool though, ive seen worse fights than that at a dog show!!

Stupid really stupid.

Totally agree!

Who are these so called "experts" who take months/years to determine the breed anyway!

Didn't see the programme but was this the lady with two Staffy types that were taken off her as they were reported to be Pit Bulls?  One of them was young female called Roxy I think?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 17.03.08 09:57 UTC
Yes that is the one two red and whites.

I felt the program was sympathetic towards dog and their owners, made a nice change.

Did they happen to mention what happened after the dogs were returned?  i.e. that less than 24 hours later the little bitch was PTS after she attacked the male and he retaliated, causing her serious injury?
- By Angels2 Date 17.03.08 10:26 UTC
OMG!! Is that the 2 dogs from Belfast?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 17.03.08 10:32 UTC
Is that becasue they had been seperated in Kennels for 9 months to a year, not good for teh psyche of a dog, Quarantine is bad enough.  That is so sad.

Yes it was.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/7199122.stm

The news story doesn't give the full account as it does not mention the attack at the owners home as such but it is common knowledge locally that it happened.

They had apparently been kenneled together for a few months but the bitch turned on the dog which led to them being separated for the rest fo their stay.  Incidently, they weren't even in proper kennels...they were kept at a wildlife park where a lot of wild animals (big cats etc) that have been confiscated from members of the public are kept.  Not exactly an ideal environment for any dog as it is unlikely that the staff would have appropriate knowledge and skills to know how to best handle dogs, let alone bull breeds.

I suppose it's impossible to say whether the bitch became aggressive as a result of being kenneled or not...she was only seven months when they were seized and around a year old when the aggression manifested itself which I guess would be about the age (teenage, bolshy stage) when she would have started to assert herself anyway.  Perhaps the enforced confinement fo the kennel situation exacerbated ther situation as neither dog could escape to their own space.  It seems that the Council had major concerns about the bitch's temperament as a result of the aggression she displayed towards the male in kennels and wanted to have just her PTS but the court ruled against them.

Being taken away from your home (if it is a good one) would be bad enough but for Roxy (is that her name?) to be taken away from her home at 7 months old when she would still be learning and socialising etc then I think its obvious who were to blame....the IDIOTS who took her away because of how she "looked"!!!!

Grrr it makes me so mad, some people (if you can call them that!) have nothing better to do than report good citizens for owning so called "dangerous dogs", having experienced this small mindedness if there was anything I could do to stop this crazy witchhunt then I would! :-(

These people also just view the dogs they take as "just an animal" but to us they are members of our family and they have the right to come into your home and take them away because of how they "look"!!

Agree with all you've said...

It made my heart ache for those poor people who have to endure all this horror, just to be proven right about their dogs that they werent pitbull types to begin with.
I didnt think those poodles did it what so ever, they would have come home covered in blood and marks to prove their ordeal.
Shocked and saddened they had to have one out doen, but just look at that post the other day about the bulldog in quarentine, its the same thing, locking a dog away with no social contact or training is an accident waiting to heppen, it goes in a perfect family pet, and comes out a shell of its former self.

What gives someone the right to point a finger at someones dog, say just one word ''Pitbull'' and that dog is instantly taken away and possibly destroyed???? Who has the right???
It could be a disgruntled friend who shops someone for having a stafford but claiming to the police its a pitbull, the stafford would still be taken into custody if no papers were provided and it could be destroyed, a oerfectly happy healthy dog all because of someones grudge to bear, its SICK and INHUMANE. :( :(  (Angry smilie)

I missed this, will it be repeated?

Makes me mad!

I saw what I would say was a certain Pit bull earlier.

Didn't look at all like a Staff, I think it would be what you would call a red nose.

Not that I wish to draw attention to the dog, but my point here is that, how have these 'experts' missed this dog?

Fair too many iconsistencies.

I am a commited Bull breed fan/enthusiast

As I have said on previous posts/rants, I feel the issues are with idiots cross breeding certain dogs to produce the latest fashion must have.

(apologies for the spelling!!)
