Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog Pants?

My girl is currently in season and she will be going to stay with her breeder for a week before her season ends. The breeder does have an entire male dog atthe premises, but that isn't an issue, seeing as I trust her absolutely.

However, she has requested that I take some 'dog pants' for my girl, so she can have full access to the house, as she prefers to keep her bitches confined ot the conservatory/kitchen when they are in season to save mess. That's fine.

But, I am a bit worried in case not being able to clean herself measns he will then be 'sloppy' about keeping herself clean in future? She is currently very clean, although I do gte the very odd spot on the carpet, which I just clean up.

Has anyone used these?

Yes I've used them on my bitches, and they're absolutely brilliant.

You'll wonder how you managed without them.

These are so handy, and you can buy little pads to fit inside, i use them most seasons! :-)

Pretty sure my lot would shred them.

How do they go to the toilet when wearing them, and more importantly how do you stop them going in them?

Says she following Myka with the mop now on day 18!

You take them off when you let the bitch out of course, and I assume adult bitches are house trained so don't go in the house. :) :)

My sister tried dog pants on her Boxer bitch when she was in season, but gave up after 2 days. The dog weed in them (free access to the garden) and she was also very distressed about no being able to clean herself properly :(

But,  judging by the good results allready posted it's got to be woth trying some on her & see how she does in them

I bought some for my girlie when she had her first season. She was quite happy wearing them, but I found when I was checking her they had rubbed her slightly even though she was wearing the correct size for her breed. So I left the doggy pants off as I was worried about them irritating her. Like Brainless with her female I was then following her around the house constantly with a mop and disinfectant. It was quite hard work as she did have quite a heavy season. A friend of mine suggested buying a normal pair of ladies full pants and cutting a hole for the tail to go through. Apparently this is what her sister uses with her female. I would imagine they would be nice and comfy for the dog too in comparison to the doggy pants as the material is a lot softer. i shall probably try this on my girlies next season.

Even simpler a pair of mens boxers, the ones with the slit in for peeing.  Put them on backwards and you have a hole already for the tail.

What a fantastic idea Brainless. I shall have to try that on my females next season and raid my hubbys underwear draw. lol

I've seen those dog pants but just couldn't bring myself get them - I don't think Missy would forgive me! It makes me laugh on the box when they say how comfortable they are yet the poor dog in the picture looks so miserable and anything but comfortable! I agree they are a great idea though. Missys just finished her 2nd season and luckily it was very light - only had the odd spot to mop up but her first season was really heavy and there would be pools of blood (sorry if you're squeamish!) if she sat of lay down for even a short while. however, I was on holiday so my poor parents had to deal with it and the bleeding had virtually stopped by the time we got back! Sorry mum and dad! Luckily it was summer though so was in the garden most of the time.

Yes, my girlie was that heavy too Pinkbrady. Fingers crossed her season shortly due will be as light as your "missy's" this time. lol

Wouldn't count on it, my Myka is still showing some colour and is day 21 today.
