Hi All,
I have a 3 year old German Spitz Mittel I want to compete in Agility with.He has completed some training and is raring :-) to go. I am totally lost as to how to go about getting him measured, registered on activity register (not KC) etc, entering shows, class defs.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Hi,

You may be able to find a club near you on http://www.agilitynet.co.uk - look under clubs - you can sort by region/county.

If he is KC registered you do not need to register on the activity register - it is only a dog that isn't KC that will need to be registered on the activity register.

Think on that web there is a link to shows too.

Good luck,

Rachel

p.s. don't know much about measuring as haven't started competing yet!  But am sure if you get into a club they can help - if not someone else on here I'm sure will know.

Here is the link for the form for registering on the Acitivity register in case he isn't KC registered.

If he is already on the KC breed register then he doesn't have to go on the activities register, that is just so that unregistered dogs can compete and have an official identity.

Of course if he isn't a registered GS Mittel then he will need to go on the Activities register and you can download the forms from the KC site.

There is probably the other info there to.

your dog will need to be measured to enter a show, even great goons like Setters who are clearly large have to be officially measured.  Some shows hold measuring sessions, you would need to contact the secretary to find out.

Thanks for the prompt replies :-) He isn't KC reg (not sure why not).If I register him on the activity register can I add my affix? I have tried to contact several clubs to join but never get a reply. Not sure if they are full and not accepting new members but I wish they would have the courtesy to reply (too busy perhaps :-)). A friend with papillons has had the same problem? Perhaps we'll start our own!  As mittels are measured in the ring he is well under the 15in measure (for small agility dogs) but he needs to be done 'officially' .
Thanks again

You might find this site interesting, the EMDAC shows are great fun, there are many different breeds which compete. Whereabouts do you live? I had to register my GSD, as long as the name is unique, you can call him a name of your choice.

Hi I'm in Cheshire but am used to travelling to shows (have 3 who I conformation show) so distance to shows isn't an issue :-) That site looks great. I have had a couple of replies re training so fingers crossed I'll be lucky.
Thanks again
