Noof is now the proud possessor of a big certificate with a gold stamp of approval from the KC/ AHT to say he has been DNA tested (at Crufts this year). He has a bar code now. Does this mean I can take it into Tesco, put him through the checkout, and claim bonus points?

There was no explanation with it - I wanted to know about colour transmission etc.

the only use his barcode is, is that it can be compared with his parents offspring, and poss other relatives to say they are related as I understand it, it is not a genome map of your individual telling you which genes for what he possesses, that would be nice. They haven't got that far yet. I suppose if anyone had studied colour genes and could pin point their presence then you could find this out, but I think at the moment they are still trying to find the disease genes.

Some companies do a separate test for colour transmission in certain breeds. In Dobes for instance they can now tell whether a dog is BBDD black (no brown offspring) or BbDd black and likely to throw browns. There is no test for the dilutes yet.
